This Taco Cottage Cheese Bowl recipe is so easy to make and not only will the cottage cheese up your protein, but it makes the bowl so creamy and delicious too.
If you found this recipe, chances are you already like cottage cheese. I don’t have to convince you of how good it really is, especially in savory recipes. I found that out much too late in life… just a few months ago, actually. And now I can’t get enough of these cottage cheese bowls!
One of my favorite ways to eat the protein packed food is in savory bowls. I grew up with a friend who ate cottage cheese with fruit and even tomatoes, but that never appealed to me. But for some reason, I decided to try the dairy product with meat and savory type mix-ins and it’s become one of my favorite meals now.
This Taco Cottage Cheese Bowl is not the prettiest, especially when you mix it all together, but that does make it the tastiest way to eat it. But you can take a few photos like these for the ‘gram before you mix it!
My favorite savory cottage cheese bowls are basically swapping out the carbs for cottage cheese. It’s a filling ingredient that is high in protein and will keep you feeling full.
So let’s normalize Cottage Cheese Taco Bowls for Taco Tuesday – ditch the tortillas and grab that cottage cheese container instead.
All you’ll need is:
- Meat of your choice – Ground Beef, Ground Turkey, Ground Chicken, Shredded Chicken, Tofu
- Taco Seasoning
- The Best Taco Mix-ins: Lettuce, Cheese, Tomatoes, Onions, Avocado, Salsa Cilantro… We could go on and on here!
- Cottage Cheese – the star of the show!
I do love my cottage cheese bowls warm – so my favorite way to make this is to gently heat the cottage cheese in a bowl in the microwave for just about 20-30 seconds. Then, mix in the warm taco meat of my choosing.
Then layer it all up and mix to eat. Again, it won’t look pretty but it’s so good!

Taco Cottage Cheese Bowl
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups Cottage Cheese
- Meat of Choice [ground beef, chicken, turkey, tofu, etc.]
- Taco Seasoning
- Onions, Shredded Cheese, Cilantro, Avocado, Salsa, Tomatoes [optional]
Instructions
- Prepare taco meat of choice with taco seasoning.
- Add 1.5 cups of cottage cheese to bowl.
- Microwave bowl for 20-30 seconds just to warm cottage cheese.
- Top with taco meat of choice and seasonings.
- Stir and enjoy!
