This is a sponsored blog post while the views expressed here were genuinely mine, consideration was paid to me by Wilderness at the Smokies to review their establishment.
I love to share the beautiful area that I live in with anybody that will listen. It might seem odd to some, but when I go on vacation, I often end up telling the local people there about my beautiful home state of Tennessee. In fact, when people see my license plate they often ask about what part of Tennessee I live in because our state is so well known for it’s beauty.
It’s also so well known for it’s mountains, the Smoky Mountains, and I’m lucky enough to see them in my backyard. You might thinking see this beauty day after day would dull their amazingness, but it certainly doesn’t, and we often head an hour in the Southwest direction to hike and spend family time right in the heart of the mountains.
In fact, I’ve been doing it my whole life. When I was younger, we would go camping in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee every single weekend. So it’s no surprise that some of my favorite childhood memories happened in the mountains and why I continue that same thing with my girls and family.
While I might like to think that the Smoky Mountains is my special place, it turns out that it’s the same for a LOT more people. In fact, the Smoky Mountains is the most visited national park in America by a LONG SHOT – with over 11 million visitors a year, it is far above all the other parks out West.
I like to think it’s because it’s a special place with lots of amazing things to do, but it’s also due to the fact that it is located within a day’s drive for over 60 percent of the nation’s population! So the odds are that you can come over and visit yourself very soon!
There are a ton of activities to keep your family busy within the mountains themselves – rafting, hiking, biking – but there are also so many other things to enjoy including Pigeon Forge, TN attractions like Dollywood and Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, TN.
While there are a ton of activities, one of the first things that I’m sure you’ll think of when you’re planning a visit is…
Where to Stay in the Great Smoky Mountains
It’s definitely a no-brainer, especially if you have kids. Wilderness at the Smokies made my list of Top 20 Smoky Mountains Attractions to not be missed back in 2013 and it definitely still is today. In fact, it’s not only one of the best places to STAY in Tennessee, but also one of the best places to PLAY!
In addition to the beautiful accommodations and the 713 room resort, it’s also Tennessee’s largest water park resort! In fact, there are 3 water parks that you have access to when you stay at the resort. One of them is the huge indoor water park, the largest in the Smokies, that is kept at 84 degrees year around for splashing fun even in the winter.
The resort also an amazing family adventure center with a 3 floor ropes course, arcade, family style games, and lots of eating options meaning you really don’t even have to leave the resort at all!
With all of the amenities, you’ll be shocked at just how affordable it is to stay and play at Wilderness at the Smokies. You’ll also be surprise, as I am, each time you go back because they’re constantly adding new features every year. It’s really obvious when you go back and look at what they had in 2013 in this review versus what’s available at the resort now!
And to celebrate it’s 10th anniversary, Wilderness at the Smokies is holding an epic Family Fun Memories Sweepstakes where you could win BIG with over $10,000 in prizes!!
