Both of my cats are definitely on the skittish side so I took note of Litter-Robot’s suggestion of putting the box in the same spot, with the same type of litter, and leaving the box off for a couple of days to let Bella and Frosty get used to it first.

Although skittish, Bella and Frosty were definitely interested and started using the Litter-Robot the first day and I actually turned the machine on the second day… I just couldn’t wait to see how it worked!

It didn’t take the cats long to start using the Litter-Robot at all. That’s because it has a timer before it cycles – so while your cat is using the litter box, it’s just like any other box. Once they get out of the box, the timer starts and then it will cycle out the used litter. Frosty and Bella really don’t even know this happens, well, I take that back…

Frosty definitely knows because as soon as he hears the cycle starts he runs in to watch it!

While the Litter-Robot does take up a bit more space than a traditional sized litter box, it fit perfectly in the same space we had been using. We have our downstairs litter box in a living room that isn’t used often and with the Litter-Robot we no longer have to worry about odor.

Emptying the Litter-Robot and changing the litter is just as easy as well. I simply press the “Empty” button and all of the litter is emptied into the waste drawer and I just pull up on the corner’s of the bag and throw in the trash can. Litter-Robot does make special sized bags to use in the waste drawer, but regular kitchen trash bags work also.
