I’ve shared about our battles with Sophia’s recurrent eczema many times over the years. She’s been battling eczema breakouts for over 3 years now and what we once thought was simply dry and sensitive skin has definitely evolved into an eczema nightmare.

Over these past 3 years we’ve tried countless remedies. Some were home remedies, some were suggested by a friend who’s a Physicians Assistant in Dermatology, and others were products that I found on my own. Most worked, some didn’t, but the eczema is still here and still wreaking havoc on my poor little girl’s beautiful skin.
Now after a quick Google image search, I realize that we’re fortunate. What I see as an eczema nightmare on Sophia’s arms and legs is quite mild compared to what some people see eczema flare-ups on their children and themselves.
Although her flare-ups may seem mild to some, they are significant enough that they actually interrupt her daily life at this point. In fact, the breakouts became so frequent that I finally broke down and visited a dermatologist a few weeks ago.
I was quite disappointed in the visit, honestly. I wasn’t told anything I didn’t know and they didn’t recommend any products that I hadn’t already tried. Fortunately, I was at my wit’s end a few days before the dermatologist visit and made an impulse buy while I was in the lotion aisle at Target.
I’ve always had favorable experiences with AVEENO® products myself so I decided to give the AVEENO® Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream a try for Sophia.
I was absolutely amazed at how well it worked for her. I started applying twice a day – in the morning and night. Since it’s simply a lotion [and not a medicated cream containing chemicals that I would worry about over-applying], I felt totally fine and comfortable using the lotion twice daily.
The active ingredient, colloidal oatmeal, seems to be a magic ingredient that just helps heal Sophia’s eczema!
I saw positive results just 1 day after starting to use Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream from AVEENO. After having such a positive result with the cream, I decided to try the Soothing Bath Treatment for both girls.
It took some convincing for Sophia who thought she would actually be in a bath of oatmeal [“like the breakfast oatmeal, Mom?!?”], but once I did they were both happy. They came out of the bath with super soft skin that was only made softer after an application of the moisturizing cream.
I have noticed a difference when I use both products together – better results and I have to make sure and use the AVEENO® Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream daily to continue with the positive results. Although the products have definitely made Sophia’s eczema more bearable and less of a daily distraction, I do believe that we’ll never fully eliminate the breakouts until we found out the underlying cause, which I suspect is due to food allergies.
Until then, we’ll be using this regimen to control the flare-ups and keep her skin looking and feeling healthy and normal.
AVEENO® Baby Eczema Therapy products have worked wonders for us because of their unique formulations, unlike anything else that we’ve tried. The products are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic that are formulated with soothing ACTIVE NATURALS® Colloidal Oatmeal that help alleviate the symptoms of eczema like itching, roughness, dryness, and irritation, which can help break the cycle of irritated skin.
With over 30 million people in the US alone suffering with eczema, there are regimens available that will help alleviate the symptoms and we’ve discovered this eczema strategy that works for us thanks to AVEENO.

My son has eczema so badly! We've resorted to steroid cream after trying almost anything and everything!! We do use a thick eczema cream over the steroid cream though and it really helps!!
