What to Make for Dinner Tonight? I’m sharing our Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe

Are you like me?  At 3 pm everyday I start asking myself the dreading question… “What am I going to make for dinner tonight?”  I’m good if I sit down and make a weekly menu, but lately I haven’t been taking the time to do that.  And with our days getting busier, it’s often easy meals that I turn to.  Oh, what am I saying?  I always choose easy meals even on days that we’re just hanging out at the house!

I’ve literally found a new product, though, that makes cooking AND grocery shopping easier.

When I went shopping for the Kraft Recipe Makers, I honestly wasn’t sure what I would find in the box.  Turns out – it has everything you need to make a delicious, quick dinner except for the fresh ingredients.  Like in the Sweet and Sour Chicken that I made, there were two sauces inside.  Now, that might seem silly to buy a box with only 2 sauces, but I love the convenience of the packages being just the exact amount I need for the meal – plus, having a recipe ready for me and knowing exactly what other ingredients I need to buy while I’m still at the store.

There were 9 different Kraft Recipe Makers at the Walmart I shopped at and it was such a hard decision that I bought 3.  I seriously couldn’t decide which my family would like better.  Then, when I got home, I couldn’t decide which one to try first!  So, I put it to a vote on social media.  My instagram friends were tied between the New England Pot Roast and Sweet and Sour Chicken.  Two votes on Facebook put the Sweet and Sour Chicken on top – so that’s what I made!

The recipe couldn’t have been simpler and the fresh ingredients paired with the sauces in the Kraft Fresh Makers were a delightful combination!  It would have been a complete one pan meal, except for the fact that I decided to serve the Sweet and Sour Chicken over homemade fried rice.  Want to see just how easy it is?

The Kraft Recipe Makers box has the recipe on the back, with 2 additional recipes that you can make with the ingredients on the side!  I chose to go with the main one on the back and was delighted in the finished meal.  You cook everything in the same skillet, so the clean-up wasn’t a chore either.

I opted to add in some Zucchini, just to add a green vegetable to the one pot meal.

No surprise that I was excited to try the Sweet and Sour Chicken.  I’m a lover of any type of Asian-inspired food and rice, so this meal was right up my alley.  It was also right up Moreaya’s too {that kid will eat anything}, but Sophia was a bit more hesitant.  She likes plain foods and to see chicken and veggies atop rice with an orange colored sauce, well… she told me she “wasn’t going to eat it“.  Then she hesitantly said she would try a bite of rice.  Apparently it had a bit of the sweet and sour pineapple sauce because she asked me again what the sauce was.  Then, I found this.

She even ate the veggies!  The Sweet and Sour Sauce is super sweet, with the added pineapple, and was just the right thing for a picky eater, like my sweet Sophia!
