Ahhhh… it’s Spring here in east Tennessee! The weather is getting warmer, the sun is shining, people are mowing their yards… it’s finally here! There are so many things I love about this season and we enjoyed a few of them this weekend, including grilling!
I’m not sure why, but there’s just something fun about cooking your food outdoors! We don’t reserve the grill only for entertaining, though. We probably cook our dinner, by grilling, at least 2-3 times per week.
Whether it’s steak, chicken, burgers, or even veggies – we love to make it smell yummy in the neighborhood!
One part of grilling that I struggle with, though, is the fact that sometimes my foods lose flavor. For a good marinade, I know the meats should soak for a few hours and that’s a problem for me because sometimes I don’t decide what I’m going to cook for dinner until it’s time to start cooking! Not enough time for a good marinade.
I decided to beef up a regular chicken sandwich with the Smokey Steakhouse Chicken Breasts and add some delicious toppings – more on that in a bit. The chicken breasts are individually frozen in the bag, which makes it easy to choose the exact amount you need without any extra waste.
While the chicken breasts were thawing, the girls and I played outside and Rob worked on one of our Spring To-Do’s… a deck and flooring for the girls’ playhouse.
I grilled the chicken breasts for about 10 minutes on each side {I think!} until the juices ran clear and they looked delish. The Smokey Steakhouse flavoring smelled amazing too.
Smokey Steakhouse Grilled Pesto Chicken Sandwich
- Tyson Individually Frozen Chicken Breasts in Smokey Steakhouse Flavor
- Tomato
- Red Onion
- Lettuce
- Pesto {warmed a bit}
- Sauteed Shiitake Mushrooms
- Choice of Cheese {we went with Muenster}
The Smokey Steakhouse flavor is the base of the sandwich. I was so happy that the flavoring wasn’t lost at all in the cooking process – it’s just enough, but not too much to overwhelm the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and the other ingredients.
There are so many variations that you can do with the sandwich {avocado, bacon, grilled pineapple…} YUM! I admit, sometimes when I hear the phrase grilled chicken sandwich, I’m thinking it won’t be too impressive, but this one is!
We’re actually in the middle of planning a Barbecue Night with Friends and I’m thinking that a Grilled Chicken Sandwich Bar might just knock their socks off!
