It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The time when scout elves start to reappear in homes just in time for all the Christmas activities!

Elf on the Shelf is a fun family tradition that you can start anytime for your family. All you need is an elf [you can use any elf, it doesn’t always have to be the traditional Elf on the Shelf] and Christmas spirit!

The idea behind the Elf on the Shelf is that the elf flies to and from the North Pole every night relating information to Santa. This is why the elf is hiding in a different spot each morning.

Most elves arrive on December 1st and continue to visit daily during the month of December!

In our house, our elf brings smiles and the Christmas spirit. We don’t use the elf to really “tattle to Santa” or for helping with behavior, but I will say that the girls have always behaved a bit better when Criddle starts to visit!

Our family’s Elf on the Shelf, Criddle, has been visiting every night of the holiday season since my oldest daughter, Sophia, was just 2 years old! In fact, Criddle has been a part of our family for 10 years this Christmas season!

Our elf’s arrival is definitely a fun Christmas tradition for our family and one of my girls’ favorite parts about the holiday. And honestly, it has grown into one of mine too! You see, I keep the elf’s fun light and easy.

I’ve also never made our elf do very elaborate scenes and the girls have never felt like they’re missing out on anything. We’ve always preferred to keep it fun and just look for the Elf on the Shelf in her new hiding place every morning after she flies back from the North Pole.

Our elf doesn’t get into mischief and definitely doesn’t make messes. But that doesn’t mean our elf, Criddle, doesn’t bring some extra fun!

Last year I came up with this Candy Cane Hunt printable because our elf always hid candy canes for the girls to find. It’s always a good idea for your elf to bring a sweet treat during the season!

You can also keep the elf excitement going by having your elf bring special activities like free printables. This Twister board game card is a great way to bring extra fun without a lot of extra work.

All you will need for this fun elf cheer is:

Twister is one of the classic board games of my childhood and I just think there’s nothing cuter than seeing an elf trying to connect the dots! And any Elf on the Shelf can bring this fun, classic mini Elf Twister game when he arrives on a cold morning in December!

Your kids will love Elf on the Shelf Games, especially when their elf brings them!

Our little elf was just in a silly position standing on the Twister board, but you could even set up other animals or dolls enjoying in the fun game.

It will definitely help if your child knows about the Twister game beforehand. I am an 80s baby so I just assume everyone knows the game Twister!

Tip: If you don’t already own the Twister game, your Elf could bring his/her own mini board and your kiddo a game of their own. You can find the Twister game on Amazon.

One thing that may help your Elf Twister game a bit more is making your elf bendable. There are a few different tutorials on how to do this around the web, but I found this video very easy to understand and use.

Not only will making your elf bendable help with this elf game of Twister, it’ll make some other scout elf creative ideas better too!
