When it comes to feeding my family during the week, I look for meals that are easy, delicious, and come together fast. Meatballs subs are a family favorite for all three reasons!
It seems like every week of the year just gets busier. Soccer season is winding down, but that means Girl Scouts and school programs are starting to get more frequent. Days are getting shorter and cooler, which means less play time outside and more time trying to keep the kids from making a mess with all that energy that needs to escape!
During the few hours after school we have to make time for those ball games, school events, homework, and somewhere in the middle – dinner prep! That’s why you’ll most often find easy, quick dinners on our weekday menu. One of my family’s favorites is a fun and easy take on an Italian classic.
While I would love to create homemade meatballs and marinara sauce from scratch, I’ll be honest, I don’t have time or the talent! That’s why I rely on products that do bring the delicious homemade taste that make it easier on me, and quicker in the afternoons. For our favorite meatball sub sandwiches, I love using Carando Meatballs because of their authentic and delicious taste.
I place them right on a baking dish and let them bake while I help the girls with their homework. They come out of the oven deliciously golden brown and ready to be put onto the subs.
While I usually do take the shortcut of using a jarred marinara sauce, Carando actually has a delicious sounding recipe for Abruzzese Meatball Subs with a homemade sauce on their website.
We choose Carando Meatballs for a few reasons, one being the authentic Italian taste. The brand was founded nearly a century ago in Italy and still holds it’s values and flavors to those combinations from it’s heritage. Peter Carando learned the Italian tradition of sausage-making as an apprentice at his local butcher shop and brought those recipes and skills with him to the US, where he helped Carando earn its place as one the world’s finest purveyors of Italian deli meats.
I also choose these meatballs because they’re not frozen like most you find in the grocery store and I can easily pick up a pack when I’m shopping at our local Food Lion. The meatball packages are easy to find in the fresh meat department at Food Lion. I love the way the store and products are laid out in Food Lion, which is why it’s the local grocery store that I shop most often.
A great deal is always nice when grocery shopping too and right now you can get a coupon for a FREE private label pasta with your purchase of Carando Meatballs. Simply search for “Carando” for the coupon here.
When I can get a delicious meal on the table in between ball games, homework, and Girl Scouts and one that everyone will eat, it’s a win for everyone! Meatball subs are one of my favorite dishes to prepare, because they come together so easy and quickly, and because everyone loves them!
What’s one of your favorite weekday meals to prepare for your family?

- 1/2 Jar Marinara Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Parmesan Cheese
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Line a baking pan with aluminum foil. Bake Carando Meatballs for 10 minutes, turn, then bake an additional 5 minutes.
- While meatballs are baking, warm marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
