We’ve all heard the saying “the dog days of summer”… but what does it mean?!
Well, I had to look it up too! And according to the Alamanac.com, the “dog days of summer” refers to a period of high heat and humidity during the months of July and August. And who loves summer more than me? This guy! Especially when he gets to enjoy the summer with new toys, treats, and all his Mommy’s attention!
Collie received a special package in the mail this week and he insisted we break into it the minute it arrived. Inside we found some great products to make these dog days of summer even more fun!
But before we get into that, let me tell you a little bit about this boy. Collie is a 2 year old quarantine puppy! His veterinarian likes to remember that he was the first puppy she saw in the beginning of quarantine and definitely not the last as 2020 definitely saw a LOT of new dog owners!
Our Collie is an AussieDoodle, and while he’s calmed quite a bit now that he’s 2, is full of energy and loves to be the center of attention. Hence the blue mohawk! When he found out that everything in this package was for him, he gladly participated in a fun photoshoot to share all these great items with you!
Of course, it didn’t hurt that he gets treats when he shows how good he can sit for a photo!
Fruitables YOGOS
Luckily there were treats right inside the box and he couldn’t wait for us to tear into the bag of Fruitables YOGOS. These are a new-to-us treat, but one we will definitely be seeking out for the future. Collie loved the roll-ups and I love that they are superfood packed, made with real yogurt and fruit and without grains, wheat, corn, or soy proteins.
Actually Moreaya was giving him a treat and she said “Mom, what are these made of?” We read the ingredients and sure enough we knew what every ingredient was and could even pronounce them. That’s when you know you’ve found a good, natural healthy treat for your dog.
Outward Hound
One thing I need to let you know about Collie is that he’s smart. Like, really, really smart. Sometimes we even say he’s maybe a little too smart. We’ve always encouraged him to learn words, behaviors, tricks, etc, but sometimes I feel like he has so much potential that I feel like we haven’t even tapped into. Is that odd to say about a dog? I’m not sure, but we think it!
So, I wasn’t surprised at all when he figured out the Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Dog Tornado Interactive Treat Puzzle Dog Toy. We have actually bought a couple of Outward Hound puzzles before and he loves them. The toy stimulates him mentally, which is just as important as his physical exercise!
With 12 compartments and 3 scent covers to create puzzles of varying difficulty, it’s a level 2 puzzle toy that’s great for dogs of all ages. It’s also ideal for frozen treats in the summer, which is what we did for Collie! I mixed up a yogurt and peanut butter mix and froze right into the toy compartments and he loved it! Check out my video on instagram to see him in action.
We also received Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slo’ Bowl™ Slow Feeder Dog bowl. While Collie has never had issues with eating too fast, many dogs do. I let him try it out and he actually loved it, as well. I think he felt like it was a bit of a game too.
Simple Solution Extreme Pet Stain & Odor Remover
One of the not so glamorous parts of owning a pet are the messes that they can create inside your house. But thanks to Simple Solution Extreme Stain & Odor Remover, I’m prepared!
The Extreme Stain and Odor Remover is a professional strength Pro-Bacteria and enzyme formula that breaks down and eliminates stains and odors. It’s made specifically for pet odors and organic stains and targets them safely and quickly.
I love that the nozzle is actually designed with a new patented 3-in-1 nozzle sprayer. The cleaner can be used as a foam, mist, or stream depending on the nozzle choice you use on pet messes. While pet messes are never fun, it’s nice to know that I have something on hand when they happen. Plus this Simple Solution formula can be used on carpet, upholstery, bedding, fabric toys, clothing, or other water-safe surfaces in your home.
Galaxy Vets Foundation
Lastly, for us pet lovers there’s an important foundation I want to share with you that I just learned about thanks to Collie’s package.
Galaxy Pets Foundation is a non-profit arm of Galaxy Vets, a U.S. veterinary healthcare system founded by Dr. Ivan Zakharenkov — a veterinarian born in Ukraine. Because of the war in Ukraine, thousands of animals are suffering because their homes were destroyed or owners were killed.
Animals in Ukraine need our help, as they are in desperate need of food, medications, supplies and veterinary care. That’s where you and I can help! Any donation, big or small, to the Galaxy Pets Foundation can help the animals in need. Please consider donating to this great cause today!
I have always loved pets, but this guy has taken my love to another level. He’s my constant companion and there for me as soon as I walk in the door. He wants all my attention and most of the time, he has it! If you have a special pup in your life, definitely check out these great products to make your life as a pet owner even more special!
