Thank you to The Duck Brand for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to get crafty during back to school with projects like this DIY Pencil Case.
Around my house we’re in back-to-school overdrive! I feel like all we’re talking about and doing revolves around school starting this week! It’s a good thing, though. Sophia absolutely loves school and excelled in Kindergarten so I have no worries that 1st grade will be full of the same great activities.
Although we’re preparing for school to start with supplies, we’re also getting crafty thanks to a fun challenge from The Duck Brand. After browsing their Pinterest Board for Back to School Crafts, I was inspired to get crafty with some fun and colorful rolls of Duck Tape! I let Sophia choose a few for our projects and wasn’t at all surprised by her choices of Selfie Cat and Leopard, which just happen to be 2 of the newest in Duck Tape’s lineup this season.
She’s a Leopard print lover at heart, so I knew it would make the perfect pattern for a DIY pencil case just in time for her first day of first grade. Come back a little later this week for a video tutorial on how to make your own Duck Tape Pencil Pouch with Zipper!
We decided to make a couple of varieties for a few different reasons. One, I couldn’t believe how easy these pouches were to make. I can seriously whip one up in less than 10 minutes. Another reason? They’re totally fun to make! I don’t give myself enough craft time anymore and I was just loving this creativity flow!
Plus, I just had to make a pouch out of that adorable Selfie Cat print!
For this pouch, I skipped the zipper top and used a plastic sandwich baggie with a zip top closure. It was a fun and easy project that took even less time than my DIY pencil pouch with a zipper.
Plus with the plastic baggie inner, I’m thinking we can use these type of pouches in the lunch box too. Seriously imagine the fun of pulling out your sandwich amidst those adorable cats taking gym selfies!
Are you inspired to start crafting yet? I hope so! Go by your local store and pick up a roll or two of fun Duck Tape prints to create your own DIY Pencil Case and other fun back to school items. If you need more inspiration, be sure to check out the Duck Tape Pinterest Board which is overflowing with fun, crafty and bright ideas.
