My family loves to camp and we’ve been camping with my two girls since they were just little. It’s a great way to spend time together as a family and a wonderful way to make memories that last a life time.

One of the great things about camping is that we get to put away daily activities and electronics and spend time outdoors and enjoying the simple things in life. But if you’re not careful, you might hear the dreaded “I’m bored!” from the kiddos if you don’t have some activities planned.

That’s exactly why I came up with this camping scavenger hunt for kids! My girls love our backyard scavenger hunt, which we’ve taken with us before, but this one has a few more specific items that kids are likely to find near the campsite, like:

  1. Campfire
  2. Tent
  3. Flashlight
  4. S’mores
  5. RV

Whether you’re camping in a campground or more in the wilderness, this fun camping scavenger hunt is a great way to get your children excited about exploring the outdoors on your next camping trip! They’ll love finding these fun items and crossing them off the scavenger hunt printable!

I love outdoor scavenger hunts for kids because they get little ones exploring their surroundings and keep them engaged. This is a great option for younger kids because I pair pictures with words on the printable. But older kids will enjoy it just as much too – it’s like a treasure hunt around the campground!

You could even turn it into a friendly competition for the whole family by offering small prizes to those who complete the scavenger hunt list. Or just enjoy the time outdoors as a family and complete the free printable scavenger hunt while on a nature walk. There are so many unique versions of this camping scavenger hunt that you can make your own way to complete it.

You can even print them in black and white to offer your kiddo a chance to color the items they find too!

The best part of free printable scavenger hunts, besides that they are FREE, is that you don’t need much to get your kids active and hunting.

If your kids are old enough to explore a bit of the campground around them, this is a great way to keep them busy while you are setting up your campsite. I always have my items ready to go so that the girls can jump on and get searching while we’re unloading the camper.

Tip: If you didn’t want to re-print for each camping trip, you could even put the printable into a plastic sleeve and use dry erase markers to play on the same sheet again and again.

This scavenger hunt includes items that your kids won’t actually collect. I did this so that children won’t be picking up items, especially in national parks or campgrounds that discourage foraging. It is still a fun activity and good scavenger hunt just to see if they can spy all the items on the list!

This campground scavenger hunt is just one of the little things that can make a family camping trip a little more fun. We always try to include the girls in our plans for the trip and one thing they ALWAYS request to do is roast marshmallows and make s’mores! That’s definitely why you’ll find s’mores on the picture scavenger hunt!

I hope your family enjoys the scavenger hunt while camping too! If you do participate, feel free to tag me on Instagram in your photos [@lindseyblogs] – I would love to see them!
