It seems like the last day of school was just a few days ago, but here we are ready to start a new school year! Moreaya will be in her 2nd year of preschool and Sophia has graduated to first grade. She’s been counting the days until it was time to go back to school because she enjoys learning so much.
As we prepare for back to school, I’m starting to gather school supplies and lunch box supplies to get ready for the busy days ahead. Since Sophia has a dairy allergy, I always pack her lunch so I know exactly what she’s eating and that all the foods are safe for her. She definitely likes taking her lunch because I always try to pack some of her favorite foods and her adorable new lunch bag adds to the excitement too!
Sophia was already 3 years old before we were aware of her dairy allergy. At the time, I was so worried because we live in a very rural town with no type of health food stores close. I worried that we wouldn’t be able to find dairy alternatives or natural foods that she would like.
Thankfully I was wrong – it’s been very easy to find dairy-free foods for her thanks to our local Kroger. The natural foods selection is within the first two aisles of our store and I love that it’s so easy to navigate. I also love that I know exactly where I’ll find dairy alternative products and other natural and organic foods – all together in one place.
Not only is Kroger making natural foods more accessible to families like ours, but they are also making them more affordable. From crackers to cereal bars to dairy-free milk from brands like So Delicious and Silk, I can find all the lunch box necessities in the natural foods aisle.
I’m also lucky that Sophia loves fresh fruit and vegetables so I swing by Kroger’s produce department for lunch box staples too. The variety of fresh produce that I find is remarkable and rounds out our natural foods back to school lunch box perfectly.
Here’s a back to school lunch box that will have Sophia super excited to open.
I love using bento and cookie cutters to bring the cuteness level of lunch up a notch and they work on lots of foods including vegetables! These adorable cucumbers are replacing bread as a ham sandwich! Fresh blueberries and carrots and tomatoes from our garden give her a nice serving of fruits and vegetables, and the adorable Horizon Honey Grahams are cows and moons that nobody can resist! Topped off with a container of Silk Almond Milk and a note, this is definitely one lunch box that will return home empty!
Whether you’re looking to back back to school lunches that are dairy-free, gluten-free, or just full of natural foods, you can find the necessities at Kroger. Be sure to check out the Natural Foods aisle on your next shopping trip and pick up your own lunch box ingredients and snacks!

I would love it if there was a Kroger near me, I hear so many good things. These are good ideas for lunches, more likely they will get eaten!
