5 Reasons to Make the Switch to Glass Straws from Glass Dharma

Ready to ditch disposable straws? It’ll make a bigger impact than you might realize, but if you love drinking from a straw there are great reusable options like these glass straws from Glass Dharma.

Here’s five reasons why you’ll fall in love with them like I have!

I never thought I would replace plastic straws with glass straws.I absolutely never thought I would let me 2 year old use a glass straw, but I am, I have… and now I’m going to share with you why you should too!

1. Cost and Less Trash

I’m a straw drinker. I drink a ton of more water throughout the day if I simply put a straw in my cup. For some reason, it makes my water more enjoyable – who knows.

But the plastic straws, although inexpensive at first glance, do add up… in both price and trash.

Well, leave the plastic straws at the store and grab one or two or three from Glass Dharma! At an average of $8/straw, you’re getting a great deal because they’re guaranteed to last a lifetime [more on that in a bit].

You can’t say the same about the flimsy, disposables, can you!?

2. Variety

That’s right – there’s no one-size-fits-all glass straw here. Well, there kind of is because I think you can use the lovely Ice Tea straw for just about anything, but there are options!

I was sent a set of 4 straws that includes: a Beautiful Bend Ice Tea Straw, a Decorative Dots {in Amber} Ice Tea Straw, a “shorty” sipper with Decorative Dots, and a Smoothie Straw. I definitely reach for my Ice Tea Straws the most because they’re wide enough to drink comfortably and the perfect height for all of my cups.

They fit perfectly in my Tervis Tumbler, which makes me so happy because I dislike drinking from the sipper lid.

Since this review was originally published, Glass Dharma has added a ton more sizes and styles including Earth Straws, Coffee Straws, and more. You can see all the options at glassdharma.com.

Not only can you get different widths and heights, there are options for bends and Decorative Dots in Glass Dharma straws too!

Since their straws are handmade in the USA, if you have a specific request for a size of straw to fit that perfect cup of yours, they can custom make one for you!

3. Coolness

Of course, a glass straw makes me look cooler, I mean how many people do you see carrying around a glass straw, but it also seems to keep my drinks cooler too. They can even be used for hot drinks! If you’re someone that likes to drink a lot of dark liquids like soda or coffee, they can help your teeth from becoming stained too!

4. Clean

The straws are super easy to clean.  I was sent a couple of brushes to aid in cleaning them, which are sold separately. Water and other thin liquids clean right out with soap and water, but the brush comes in handy after I’ve drank a smoothie.

They are also dishwasher safe which is a huge plus for me, although I do notice they get cloudy when they come out of the dishwasher. Glass Dharma says to simply soak them in distilled white vinegar and use your brush to return them to their crystal clear appearance!

5. Guaranteed

When I originally thought about glass straws, like most people, I was apprehensive about them breaking. Once I actually held them in my hands, I realized how sturdy they are. You know you’re awesome Pyrex at home and how sturdy it is? Well, these are made of the same type of glass!

But, if for some reason your straw does break or get chipped – Glass Dharma makes a promise. If, for any reason*, your GlassDharma Drinking Straw breaks, you may return the broken straw for repair or replacement. If we cannot restore it to its original condition, we will gladly replace it.

You can purchase a variety of glass straws from the Glass Dharma site. Price depends on the size and style you choose. Don’t let the choices overwhelm you!
