My Family is Helping Cross Off Hunger #BetterTogether

As the Holidays are getting closer – really, only 13 days!?  I’m back this week to share with you what I did with all those great Unilever products that I bought last week and just how it put me and Sophia in the Holiday Giving Spirit!

Why Unilever?

But before we get to end of the story, I want to share with you exactly what I’m choosing to support the family of Unilever brands.

Unilever is committed to donating more than two million meals to families in need with Feeding America and every item on your shopping list counts. Show your support by adding Unilever brands to your cart next time you shop. Together we can help to Cross Off Hunger.

What this means to me is no matter if I keep my Unilever products in my cabinets at home, or donate them to a Food Bank, I’m helping support the brand and it’s mission to Cross Off Hunger.  Along with that initiative, Unilever is also committed to a Sustainable Living Plan.  This fits right in with my family’s own sustainable living plan as we try to live more eco-friendly and healthier lives.  I try to purchase products that help me attain those goals, while supporting companies that are working to achieve their own goals, similar to mine.

For example, natural peanut butter.  It’s a small change – {what this blog is ALL about} but a change in the healthy habits of my family.  Small steps make a big impact in the long run and eating a healthier diet, using more natural products, and learning to give to others is our sustainable plan as a family.

That’s why I chose to go shopping to fill both my cupboards, and the rest of our Donation Box to a local Food Bank, with Unilever brands.

As I looked through the brands on the Making Life Better website, I wrote down the ones that we needed most and that we most often by {and a couple of splurges like those Magnum Ice Cream Bars – hey, we deserve a little treat after eating healthier!}.  Most of the brands are ones that we already buy on a regular basis, but some were new to us.  To see more of my Shopping Trip, check out my #BetterTogether Google+ Album.

This Holiday Season, I’ve been teaching Sophia the importance of giving back.  Letting her know that all little boys and girls don’t have the things she has.  She’s still a little young to understand the full concept, but she’s getting it.  She has been helping me fill a box of donations for our Local Food Bank and I told her that we were going to pick some things out that we had just purchased to add to our donation box too.

Helping to Cross Off Hunger

Along with the products above, we donated some great Earth’s Best Organic Snacks and Bath and Body Products.  We just took the box to the Food Bank yesterday and they were so grateful for the items.  Sophia felt so proud to be giving the donation box and she said on our way home “Now the girls and boys will have all the food, Mama!”

I hope to continue to inspire her to be grateful for what she has and to give when she’s able!
