Updating the Mom Jeans Look

blueskinny

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sears for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. I admit, I've done it.  I've settled into the comfort of Mom Jeans.  Did you shudder at those two words?  I almost did.  I really got comfortable in them last Spring because I hadn't lost the baby weight after having Moreaya.  Luckily, after my trainer aka hubby, Rob set up a great training program for me, the pounds started to shed. I was able to lose 15 out of the 20 pounds that I set for my goal and updated my Winter wardrobe last Fall!  Problem is - it's not Winter anymore and my wardrobe is still that of last year's 2 sizes too big.  Well, that's the cute clothes - the only thing that I'm wearing right now are jeans, yep, the Mom kind and … [Read more...]

Prams, Pushchairs and Strollers, Oh My!

disclaimer2

Depending on where you live, you will probably use varying methods of transportation for your baby. You may not be surprised to know that many countries have completely different ways to carry or move their babies; some regions even have varying names for exactly the same product. Contrary to popular opinion the stroller is a relatively new invention, and is still used mainly in the west. Traditional methods used to transport babies include slings, which have been traced back as far as the pharaohs, and cradleboards, a method used by Native Americans. Both are widely used throughout developing countries, and have recently been introduced into western culture in the form of baby wrap carriers that allow a mother to carry a child cradled against her chest, while leaving the hands free. The stroller, or pram as it was originally called, … [Read more...]

Back When I Was In School…

Yeah, I don't feel old enough to say that, but technically I guess I am.  It's been 7 years since I graduated from college.  My plans to go back are still up in the air... I really, really want to earn a Masters Degree in Accounting, but I'm nervous as can be about going back.  I know things have changed in that amount of time and money is a huge issue with our family, being a one-income household. Although, I ran across a service that helps with some of the costs of going back to school.  Have you ever heard of the option of being able to rent textbooks?  I hadn't until I found CampusBookRentals.com.  When I was in school, I always tried to save some money by buying used books, either online or in the school bookstore.  But even then, when you went to go sell them back, you always lost money compared to how much you paid for … [Read more...]

We’re stuck.

Yep, that's where we're stuck.  We have no clue what to name this baby!  Not the above baby... the one that's still in my tummy. We're almost wishing we wouldn't have used Sophia's middle name {not sharing, you know enough about her already!}, because we like it so much... but at the time, we were afraid that we might not have another girl, so we wanted to make sure and use it.  It was my Grandmother's name. So, I need your help.  I want to share the names we've came up with and I want your opinion on them.  I'm going to talk them through with you, as I have every friend that will listen, and you tell me what you like, what you hate, and any others you can come up with!  {Although, we've thrown around a ton and these are the ONLY ones that Rob and I agree on!} Don't worry about middle names or how it goes with a middle name.  … [Read more...]

Why Invest in Solar Panels Today?

logo

This is a guest post from Becki, in association with The Energy Conservation Group. When you get solar panels installed, you’ll benefit the environment massively by not using energy resources that are running out. Now has never been a better time to get a solar PV installation. This is because the government is offering excellent financial incentives to anyone installing an eligible solar PV system. However, the government has drastically reduced the funds to the scheme, with installations over 50kW being penalised. Since the average home installation is less than 5kW, this won’t affect homeowners but who knows whether this will change? How does the Feed-In Tariff Scheme benefit me? When you have an eligible installation, you will benefit by:  Receiving payments for the energy you generate Receiving payments for the … [Read more...]

Bedroom Furniture Planning

This is a guest post from Laura, in association with Very.co.uk. Whether you’ve just moved and are decorating your new home for the first time, or if you are looking to update your house with a spot of redecorating, furniture can play an important part in shaping the look and feel of a room. One of the most important rooms when it comes to decorating and getting everything just right is the bedroom. This is the room where the majority of people spend most of their time; sleeping in their beds, starting their mornings there and ends their days. So when it comes to picking out bedroom furniture it is important to get it right. When it comes to picking out bedroom furniture it is important to get the dimensions right.
