My Number 1 Baby Registry Item – Video Baby Monitor

pro-black

I'm by no means a Baby Registry expert, but after having 2 babies I do know what I used and didn't use that was on my Baby Registry Checklist!  When I was pregnant with Sophia {who is now almost 3 - EEK!}, hubby and I tossed around the idea of purchasing a video baby monitor.  We finally concluded that it was just too much of an expense and didn't think it was really needed. Oh boy were we wrong! That is one {along with a few more} of my biggest regrets.  It would have made me sleep easier with my first baby, I know!  We did end up getting a video monitor when Moreaya was first born.  He helped me relax so much more at night when she was transitioned to her crib.  From that moment, any time someone asked me what should and shouldn't be on their … [Read more...]

How Do You Shop? Online Shopping vs. In Store

Shopping online

A few years ago you would never have found me doing any type of online shopping.  I would have been afraid to give out my credit card information {even to secure sites}, worried about return policies, and not being able to touch a product before I bought it?  No thanks! Now that I have 2 little girls that I must tote around when I shop, well, I shop online.  Ha!  It's funny, but true.  It takes so much effort to even get the three of us out the door and into a store.  If hubby is with us, well, even more effort to keep the 3 of them entertained while I try to browse.  Actually, there's no browsing at all.  It's.. get in, get what you need, and get out! So, I started thinking about which one is really a better choice - Online Shopping or In Store.  I came up with … [Read more...]

Toddlers Learning a Second Language

From the comments on my What Do You Think About Toddlers Learning a Second Language post... you're all pretty much in favor of it.  Obviously I am too and for good reason! Little Pim was so excited to see how many of you are enthusiastically teaching your young children a second language that they want to help you do just that... by giving away one Little Pim DVD to a lucky SEBG reader! … [Read more...]

8 Tips on Feeling Safe and Secure While Traveling Close and Far From Home

Safety Tips

I used to live by myself in college.  Actually, I lived by myself in an apartment while finishing my last year of college then lived by myself in another apartment for a couple of years when I first began my career.  I was hardly ever scared or nervous - to come home, to leave home, to go anywhere... Then something happened.  Not sure when it happened, but I do know that now that I have children, I've become a more nervous person.  Nervous about the unknown, unseen, and "what if's".  Maybe it's too many Law and Order episodes or maybe it's just a part of growing up and realizing that there are un-safe situations that people get put into everyday and I don't want to become one of them. When I started thinking about the subject, I came up with 8 things that I do to make myself feel a … [Read more...]

On Track for a Happy and Healthy New Year with Walgreens and the Walgreens app.

Walgreens Manicure Needed

Did you make any New Years Resolutions?  I did.  I'm doing pretty good at the list too - now that we're 14 days into 2013.  The thing is, I keep adding to the list.  But that's ok, right?  I'm the Creator, the Do-er, and the Accomplisher of my own resolutions so I can.  It's all about making progress, which is what everyone's resolution should be. And I need to - you can tell by looking at that picture, can't you?  Yep, I've definitely added finding a bit more of "Me Time" to my resolutions.  My original goal was to be a Better Mother, Wife, and Blogger.  I set out a few statements to help me reach them, but I also quickly realized that in order to do any or all of those things, I needed to be a better Me.  I need to take care of my physical and … [Read more...]

Puppies, Pumpkin Pie, and Presents… oh my!

Disney's Santa Paws 2

I can't quite believe Thanksgiving is only four days away!  Here at the SEBG household, we've been getting in full Holiday Tradition swing - putting up our Christmas Tree and watching some of our favorite and new favorite Christmas movies.  It's a tradition that I always did with my parents and one that I'm enjoying with my girls now.  One that both girls love, because of the adorable dogs, is Disney's Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.  I'll have a full review for you coming up in the next week! And just a few days ago, I went around and took all of the pumpkins in the house and pureed them, ready to make some homemade pumpkin pies for the Holiday Dinners that we'll be attending this week.  It's been a fun thing to do with Sophia and we're so looking forward to tasting those … [Read more...]

Forget Black Friday, I’m Holiday Shopping on eBay

eBay Logo

Ok, I admit before I had kids I was all about Black Friday.  The rush of trying to get that great deal, the lines of people wrapped around the store, getting up hours before Dawn... wait, what was the draw of all of that?  Now, I sleep as late as the girls will possibly allow and that's not going to change just to get a couple of dollars off something that I don't really need.  Now that I have the girls, online shopping is so much more fun! I haven't always been quite the tech savvy shopper, although I've been a fan of eBay for awhile now.  The website that I used to peruse for vintage and one-of-a-kind items has now become one of my everyday shopping sites and has been a great source as I've started making a list of toys and gifts that would be good for the girls.  The eBay Gift Guide has … [Read more...]

Capturing Memories with Canvas Prints – Holiday Gift Guide 2012

Printcopia Canvas Prints creation

This year's Gift Guide is all about products that I think would make a fabulous gift for that special someone.  I am so excited about sharing today's with you.  Pictures are important to me - so important that I never, ever print them.  That makes total sense, right?  Well, it's true.  Since everything is digital now, it takes me forever to get around to printing them.  I use my iPhone to take most pictures and then share them on instagram or Facebook.  Everyone that I care about sees them there, so I forget to print them. But, sometimes I really feel like our walls are lacking pictures of my beautiful girls, so I was really excited to work with Printcopia.  Printcopia is an online service that makes the most beautiful canvas prints - just wait 'til you see mine! Their service … [Read more...]

A Little Me Time – Reel Cash Critters from Gamesville

reelcashcritters

It isn't often, but sometimes I get a little "me" time when the girls are napping OR my Mom is feeling generous and babysits for me.  When I get this time I either blog, pick up the iPad and read through my Kindle app, and lately I've been playing a fun online game called Reel Cash Critters. My love of online games started way back with Yahoo Pool - ha!  I used to love to play it and many other games.  I've always loved games in real life too - board games, etc.  Reel Cash Critters is even more fun though because it's modeled after slots.  I've only been to a Casino once while I was visiting family in Detroit and the only place I would spend my money was on the slots!  The thrill of pulling that big handle down was just so thrilling - even if it was just the Quarter Slots!  … [Read more...]

Learning in 3D with Cypher Kids 3D Cards #CypherKidsClub

cypherusaanimalcard1

I love to incorporate technology into Sophia's daily "school time".  We are presently doing the Letter of the Day curriculum and we often bring the iPad into our lessons.  It's such a great learning tool, she can practice tracing with her fingers, since her little hands still have a hard time controlling a pencil perfectly, and the apps that are available for it seem almost endless! We were recently sent a card system from Cypher Entertainment - Cypher Kids 3D Cards to be used with our iPad.  They are also compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.  I have an iPhone 3G, so we have been using the cards with the iPad.  … [Read more...]

Take Charge of Your Health

WannaBeWell Call Out Image 3

I am super excited to share with you all that I only have 6 pounds left in my weight loss goal!  I've lost a total of 14 pounds since I set my goal in mid-May and I feel better than I ever have.  My energy levels are higher, I'm eating better, I'm happier, and I can fit into jeans that I haven't worn in over THREE years!  I know that losing the weight has helped me tremendously, but so have changing my lifestyle habits.  So, what have I done? I reduced portion sizes.  I now get full when I eat less.  I probably still eat more than a serving size, but I eat a lot less than I did.  I'm more physically active.  Although I'm not running and training like I should be {I have a 5K in just 2 days!}, I'm still a lot more active than I was before I set my weight loss … [Read more...]

Best Halloween Apps for Kids

spookleyCollage

I love Halloween.  Sophia is really starting to understand the holiday this year and is super excited to dress up as a Blue Pumpkin Blue Princess... "I changed my mind, Mommy".  Thank goodness I hadn't started on a blue pumpkin costume yet! I also love my iPhone and the fact that I can get great educational and still entertaining apps for a toddler.  I recently had a chance to try out 4 new apps, all centered around the upcoming Halloween holiday. First up, The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin.  I'd venture that everyone has heard of Spookley before and this storybook app is a fun one for toddlers.  As soon as it began, Sophia said "but pumpkins are round!"  Although she might not get the whole "being different is ok" message now, I hope that exposing her to … [Read more...]
