A Princess Tea Party Birthday

disneyprincesspartybudget

Are you ready for Princess Tea Party overload!? Sophia was Cinderella a Blue Princess for Halloween.  She had a Cinderella Blue Princess Party last fall.  She's still quite in love with Cinderella Blue and Princesses, so she requested a Blue Princess Party.  Her Mommy {me} decided to open the theme up a bit more and convince her to tie in her current love of Tea Parties.  *She much prefers to refer to Cinderella as a Blue Princess rather than by her name. That's when the idea of a Princess Tea Party Third Birthday was born. In our family the first birthday party is a big deal.  Sophia's was a Rock 'N Roll theme, Moreaya had a Beach Party in the middle of Winter.  Then at Sophia's 2nd Birthday - a Mickey Mouse theme, we went to a smaller scale, a little … [Read more...]

Minnies Wizard of Dizz: Children’s DVD

wizardofdizz

My girls are huge Mickey Mouse fans.  Sophia was so much so last year that she requested a Mickey Mouse birthday party, complete with her own Clubhouse sign...   When Disney Junior started airing Minnie Mouse Bow-Toons shorts, Sophia just loved them too.  We sang the little song together and she loved to see what Minnie and Figaro would do next. Luckily for all the Minnie Mouse fans, there's a new DVD coming to stores in less than a week!   Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnies Wizard of Dizz will be available on Tuesday, June 11th and your little Mousketeer will love it! The Wizard of Dizz is a fun, Mickey Mouse take on The Wizard of Oz.  I have fun seeing the references, like when the Show Garage gets swept up in a swirling wind! Minnie's Wizard of Dizz … [Read more...]

Disney Princess Party Decorations from Snack Containers

rapunzeltowers

Sophia's 3rd Birthday was over the weekend and she celebrated with a Disney Princess Tea Party theme!  She chose the theme completely, although I encourage adding the Tea Party idea to make it a little more unique.  I made most of the decor and party favors this year, saving a bit on expenses and making the party a little more personal. I always like to prepare fun party favor bags for the kiddos that come and since we usually have younger guests, I always throw in a few surprising things! Incorporating Earth's Best Organic into Party Take-Homes If you're out of ideas for the little guests, jars and pouches of baby food, infant cereal, and fun little books are great additions to their favor bags! Incorporating Earth's Best Organic into Party … [Read more...]

Time for Your Checkup with Doc McStuffins {DVD giveaway!}

docmcstuffins

From the moment that we saw the first Doc McStuffins episode, Sophia and I have been Doc fans.  I sang those songs constantly - in my head and out loud - for the first few weeks.  They are just so darn catchy!  If you haven't sang them in your head, well, then I bet you've never watched the show. And if you haven't, you're missing a super cute show.  2012's #1 cable TV series in Kids 2-5, "Doc McStuffins" tells the story of a nurturing six-year-old girl who heals stuffed animals and broken toys out of her backyard playhouse clinic.  Assisting Doc at the clinic are her trusty team of lovable stuffed animals including: Stuffy, an overly proud dragon; Lambie, her cuddly best friend lamb; Hallie, a jolly and caring hippo nurse; and Chilly, a snowman who spends … [Read more...]

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Quest for the Crystal Mickey DVD

MMCH Crystal Mickey Box Art email[1]

Sophia has loved Disney Junior's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse since she was little bitty.  Moreaya has been the same way.  Honestly, I think there's just something about the "Hot Dog" song that just gets you! About a month ago the extended episode "Quest for the Crystal Mickey" aired on Disney Junior and Sophia loved it.  She kept seeing the commercials before it came on and when it finally did air, she didn't move through the whole thing.  She loves "adventure" role play right now and often tells her Dad and I it's time "to go on adventures!"  She "sees" footprints on the ground that need to be followed, she's always talking of being a Detective, and loves to solve a good mystery - seriously.  Somehow we forgot to DVR it, like we … [Read more...]

Wordless Wednesday: Rapunzel Fan

rapunzelhat1

I've shared Sophia's new found love for Disney's Classics.  I also shared that I have a #tangledobsessedtoddler.  It's actually been a few days since we've watched Tangled {not sure why} but when this super cute hat came in the mail, she was all about Rapunzel! I saw the idea on Pinterest and contacted Michelle from Two Brothers Blankets {also the fab blogger at The Not-So-Secret Confessions of a Second Time Mom} and asked her if she thought she could do it.  She did it... and did it perfectly, I might add! I definitely recommend that you check out Michelle's Etsy Shop and Two Brothers Blankets on Facebook! … [Read more...]

Teaching Sophia all about Disney Classics

Peter Pan

Sophia has absolutely fallen in love with Disney movies.  Whether it's newer Pixar movies like Finding Nemo and Toy Story, or classics like Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp - she loves them. I've even been sharing pictures on instagram with the hashtag #tangledobsessedtoddler.  Tangled is definitely her movie right now.  I've been DVRing them as they show up on Disney Jr, but am excited to say that she's getting the Tangled Blu-ray edition for Valentine's Day! One thing that I definitely want the girls to have is a Disney Movie Collection.  I still even have a few of my favorites on VHS!  The movies are classics and really are timeless. I was excited to see an email pop up in my inbox this morning announcing that Disney will be releasing a Blu-ray Diamond Edition of Peter Pan on February … [Read more...]

The Odd Life of Timothy Green Blu-Ray Review

oddlifeoftimothygreen

Just released last week, The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a heart-warming, uplifting movie from Disney that the whole family can enjoy.  If you have older kids, this is a perfect one to settle around the tv on a cool night and enjoy together.  Sophia skipped out on it, but it would have definitely be safe for her to watch. The premise behind the movie is the main couple, played by Jennifer Garner and Joel Egerton, so desperately want a child of their own.  One night they decide to write down all the things that would be characteristics of their child "Picasso with a Pencil", "Honest to a Fault", etc.   To settle their hearts, they put the character notes in a box and bury it in the backyard.  After a sudden rainstorm, that only affects their house, a child is found in their home … [Read more...]

nemoholiday

Since we're in a Finding Nemo kind of mood today AND we're only 15 {almost 14} days away from Christmas, I wanted to share this fun Holiday Cards.  If you have a Nemo fan at home too, they might enjoy playing with these "sea-sonally" inspired cards or want to give them to friends or family! … [Read more...]

Just Released: Finding Nemo on Blu-ray Review

findingnemodvd

We have a few Finding Nemo fans in this house... it's one of Sophia and I's favorite movies to watch and even Moreaya tries to say "fish" when she sees him on the screen. In fact, that little stuffed Nemo sleeps with Sophia every night and goes just about everywhere she goes.  We had an older version of the Finding Nemo DVD that Sophia has just about worn out, so when the movie was released on Blu-ray just last week, I knew it would be one we would want for the Girls' Collection.  Since we just bought our first Blu-ray player on Black Friday, I was excited to see the differences and clarity in the movie - and I wasn't disappointed! You felt like you were really on the journey with Marlin and Dori!  If you're unfamiliar with Finding Nemo {why oh why!?}, the film really begins when Nemo gets … [Read more...]

Puppies, Pumpkin Pie, and Presents… oh my!

Disney's Santa Paws 2

I can't quite believe Thanksgiving is only four days away!  Here at the SEBG household, we've been getting in full Holiday Tradition swing - putting up our Christmas Tree and watching some of our favorite and new favorite Christmas movies.  It's a tradition that I always did with my parents and one that I'm enjoying with my girls now.  One that both girls love, because of the adorable dogs, is Disney's Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.  I'll have a full review for you coming up in the next week! And just a few days ago, I went around and took all of the pumpkins in the house and pureed them, ready to make some homemade pumpkin pies for the Holiday Dinners that we'll be attending this week.  It's been a fun thing to do with Sophia and we're so looking forward to tasting those … [Read more...]
