If sickness hasn’t hit your household yet, consider yourself lucky. My family has been under the weather for a couple of weeks now thanks to mystery viruses which are all too often common during cold and flu season. The cool winter months means sickness is spread around to each other faster than you can keep up and being sick while your kids are sick is utterly exhausting!

Fortunately, I was somewhat prepared for the sick season, which has made all the difference really. I try to avoid doctor offices like the plague because I’m convinced we only get sicker when we go – catching other germs that are all over the office. If you’re ready to avoid doctors, but also be prepared to fight off cold and flu season yourself, be sure to be prepared with these 7 items that will help you do just that!

Humidifier

I’m a firm believer that our humidifier has made a huge difference in sickness this year. We just spent a few days away from home this past weekend and my husband and me woke up both mornings with dry sinuses and sore throats. Now it’s just to find a way to travel with our Venta Airwasher.

I’ve bought so many humidifiers over the years that just stop after a few months. We’re going on a year with our Venta Airwasher and I just bought a second one for my girls’ room a couple of months ago. I highly recommend them for anyone who deals with allergies or dryness in your home. Not only does it humidify the room, but actually washes the air – I swear to you I never have to dust in our bedroom! You can read more about my thoughts on our Venta Airwasher in my review.

Diffuser

Another machine you’ll find running in our house daily is our essential oil diffusers. Lately I’ve been diffusing blends like Thieves + Orange essential oil and an allergy blend of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint essential oils.

A Thieves blend is great at warding off germs and viruses and something my body craves during the winter months. If you’re not diffusing, you’re missing out on a great way to naturally survive cold and flu season!

Tip: Thieves oil is great for colds and flu, but depending on which brand you find, can be pretty expensive. I love this version from NOW Foods because it works great and is super affordable.

Water Bottle

Just like my body gets dry without my humidifier, they do when I don’t drink enough water too! I’m a firm believer when I put away the recommended about of water a day, I feel better. A good water bottle is essential to keeping your health on track and even when a cold hits, I try to drown it out with water! These are my favorite water bottles ever and you’ll always see one by my side.

Tissues

Instead of investing money in stocks of tissues, consider reusable options. Cloth wipes make great reusable tissues!

Vitamins

Although they may not help once a cold hits you, I have no doubt that taking vitamins regularly helps your immune system. I hate taking pills, so I take my VitaFive gummy vitamins everyday. I choose the Beauty Pack, which comes with one Vitamin C gummy to help with fighting off colds.

Entertainment

When sickness does hit, so can boredom. Be sure to have plenty of books, movies, and even board games ready for the days you’re stuck in the house. One of my favorite things to do when I’m sick is to listen to a good book with Audible because most of the time I can’t focus enough to read. It’s the perfect solution!

Organic Meds

Just because I use a lot of home remedies when cold and flu season hits doesn’t mean I’m not ready with medicines just in case. Some of my favorite organic medicines come from Maty’s Healthy Products.

There you have it – those are 7 must-have products to have on hand for the best home remedies for cold and flu season… even after it hits!
