Cruising on 6 Wheels: Step2 Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser

I am a Step2 Ambassador and am partnering with Step2 for the following review. I received a product in exchange for my review and honest opinion.

I am so so excited about today’s post.  You may remember that I traveled to Ohio this Summer to visit the Step2 Headquarters.  I blogged about my experience getting to see the company from the inside out and what it meant to me to be a Step2 Ambassador.  Of course, it wasn’t all work while we were there or let me say, the work that we did while we were there was loads of fun for this Mom.

During one of our meetings we had the chance to check out a totally new, fresh concept of a motorized ride-on toy.  Every single one of us had to pick our jaw up when we saw the toy in real life.  It was tough, it was rugged, it was just so different from anything else on the market and I couldn’t wait to show it to Sophia and Rob, especially Rob.  Of course, I wasn’t able to take a picture so they just had to trust me when I shared the awesomeness that was soon to be the Step2 Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser.

The idea of a zero turn motorized ride-on appealed to me instantly because I knew it would be a concept that my girls could learn rather easily.  Sophia received a motorized ride-on for her birthday this Summer and still struggles a bit learning how to control it by the traditional steering wheel.  Couple that with the fact that it needs to make wide turns and it’s just a hard concept for a 4 year old.

The Step2 Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser is controlled with 2 joysticks and a gas pedal.  It’s also very easy to switch from 2.5 mph to 5mph by unscrewing a small panel that hides the speed changing button.  I love that it’s covered so Sophia can’t accidentally switch it to the faster speed until we’re good and ready to graduate to 5 mph!  The ability to charge the Cruiser is also easily accessible, another big plus from our former ride-on.

The quality construction is right on point with what I have come to expect from Step2.  The durable made in the USA tough plastic body insures that this toy is built to last and last it will – I expect it to be one of the girls’ favorite toys for the next few years.  No matter the temperatures outside, Sophia asks daily to driver her Cruiser.

You’ll notice that Sophia is the only one driving because Moreaya hasn’t quite reached the age range for the Xtreme Cruiser quite yet.  This motorized ride-on is targeted towards 4-8 year olds and I find that right on point as Sophia completely gets the concept of what the controls do and how to use them already.  She can reach the gas pedal easily and feels like she’s in full control while spinning around the driveway.

Although the Xtreme Sport Cruiser sports 6 rugged wheels, only the middle 2 wheels actually pull the ride-on, which gives it the zero-turn capabilities.  I’ve found that the 12 volts are strong enough to pull Sophia across the driveway and grass, which is also a huge plus since we ride mainly in our backyard.  Although I’m not excited about the upcoming coldness of Winter, we are excited to try it out on snow – I’ll keep you updated on how it goes!

I have to admit – there aren’t many things that make my husband excited when it comes to product reviews.  He sees the amount of boxes we have to break down to recycle – he sees the stuff and only the stuff, but when the Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser was sitting in the garage when he came home from work, I saw the look in his eyes – there’s no denying he was excited to see it in action!

I admit – it looks tough, fun, and flat out cool.  It’s completely eye catching and I can assure you appeals to girls just as much as it does to boys!

One thing that hubby and I have in common is our worry of lack of space.  I have to admit, the girls have a lot of bigger toys that take up quite a bit of space in our garage so storing another motorized ride-on could be an issue, except with the Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser, it’s not!

Storing Xtreme Cruiser

When the developers of the Xtreme Cruiser showed us this feature at Step2 Headquarters all of us Moms and Dads went “Ah! YES!”.  If your child has a motorized ride-on, you know what a pain they are to push out of the way, if you’re not pushing the gas that is.  The Xtreme Cruiser has molded in handles on both the front and back so it’s super easy to tilt the Cruiser up either way to pull and/or push it anywhere you need to!  This feature is by far my favorite and one that shows Step2 is really thinking about the needs and concerns of not only the children that will be using their products, but the parents too!

The Step2 Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser is available exclusively on Walmart.com for $249.99 just in time for the Holiday Season.  This 6 wheeled power ride-on is sure to be one of the biggest hits of the Shopping Season!

What little one in your life would love to be cruising around in the Step2 Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser?
