Wilderness at the Smokies Waterpark Resort – THE Place to Stay in the Smoky Mountains

If you haven’t checked out my list of the Top 20 Attractions that you do NOT want to miss on your next visit to the Smoky Mountains, you should.  That’s because today’s post is all about one that made the list!

On the list, I covered 19 other attractions that should be on your To-Do List on your Smoky Mountains Visit and today’s post is the only Resort on the list.  Not only is Wilderness at the Smokies Resort where you should stay on your visit, but it’s an attraction all in it’s own!  You could literally stay at the resort your entire trip and be completely entertained for days.

wildernessfrontdoorUpon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with Southern Hospitality and a beautiful lobby that’s decorated just like a Mountain Top cabin.  The decor in the resort is phenomenal and really gives you the at-home feel that the Smoky Mountain area has always given me.

WildnessPoolsCollageThe resort is probably most famous for it’s own indoor water park… and it’s HUGE!  The Wild Water Dome indoor facilities boast:  66,000 square feet of indoor water play, Smokies Surf Rider {shown on left} where guests are welcomed to body surf, Washout Mountain {top right} that has 2 levels of water play including 2 smaller slides and tons of water play, and the The Great Wave {bottom right} with 10,000 square feet of rolling waves!  There are also 4 other larger water slides, which we didn’t get to experience this time since we have the little girls, and a pool that has a basketball goal in the middle!

wildernesschildrenareaPerhaps my favorite area of the Wild Water Dome is definitely the Small Kids Play Area.  It is completely separate and closed off {with a gate} from the rest of the indoor water park, which gives a bit of security from your child wandering out and keeps the big kids out too.  The small area features swings in the water {this used to be Sophia’s FAVORITE}, a small slide, a See-Saw in the water, and spraying jets that are splashing fun!

WildernessSlideCollageWhen you factor in the fact that you have unlimited access to all these indoor water attractions, you really can’t beat the deal and wonderful accommodations that the Wilderness Resort has to offer!

And if you think indoor fun is all this resort has to offer, you’d be wrong!  They have 2 Outdoor Water Play Areas, one that you could see from our Balcony in my instagram photo here, and even an outdoor Mini Golf Course!  Of course, in November the outdoor water areas were closed, but they look like great fun for Summer guests!

Speaking of accommodations, the rooms are decorated to the nines with the cabin look.  We were given a Bunk Suite which worked out perfectly for my family and definitely a room that I would choose again on our next trip!

wildernessbunkroomA newer addition, that we hadn’t had the chance to see before, is the Wilderness Adventure Forest!

WildnernessAdventureCollageIf it’s possible, the Adventure Forest is just as much fun as the indoor water park!  I would highly recommend purchasing the Wild Fun Pass which gives you unlimited adventures within the Forest like – Rock Climbing, Black Light Mini Golf, Lazer Maze, a large Ropes Course over the Arcade, Bowling, and much more!

The picture on the left shows the Cubs Climbing Den {which is completely free} and is full of fun for the little {and big ones}.  I went up the 4 story climbing clubhouse with Sophia and had a complete ball!

While the indoor and outdoor water parks are for guest use only, the Adventure Forest is open to the public!

WildernessArcadeCollageThe Adventure Forest also boasts an incredible arcade right in the middle that both girls had a blast in.  Sophia stills asks me daily when we’re going back.  This was her favorite place of our entire trip!

You can book lodging for the Wilderness at the Smokies right on their website.  I would highly recommend staying here with ANY ages and definitely be sure to follow them on social media through Facebook and Twitter to see on the Special Deals they release!

Where would you spend your free time – Water Park of Adventure Forest?

My family was provided with complimentary lodging at the Wilderness at the Smokes, but was under no obligation to share them in this post.  All opinions are 100% my own… the Smoky Mountains really are my beloved second home!  #PFTitanicFam
