I’m Joining MasterCard to Stand Up to Cancer #DoGood #MC

I am a member of the Collective Bias Social Fabric community. I have been compensated to share my experience with you by Collective Bias and their client, Mastercard.

I've never been shy about my personal fight with Cancer.  Now that I'm partnering with Mastercard and the Stand Up to Cancer campaign, I'm excited to tell you a bit more about my personal experience with cancer and how I'll never let it hold me back.

I was diagnosed with Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, in April of 2009.  Just 5 months after getting married the results of the biopsy came back.  I had cancer.  I was 26, a newlywed, and diagnosed with cancer.  Obviously, the end story is a good one – I had surgery to remove the melanoma and even though I've had countless biopsies since then – I am happy to say that I've been Cancer Free for over 4 years now!

Because I was lucky enough to have early detection, a great team of doctors, and supportive family and friends, I've been able to…

Be married to the love of my life for almost 5 years now.

Have 2 beautiful girls that I can take on wonderful adventures.

And see my little girlie start Pre-School!

My Cancer story is one of Survival.  I am a Cancer Survivor.  There is so much power in that sentence.  It is my hope that everyone that has ever been effected by the cancer is able to, at some point in their story, say that sentence aloud.

Although some might see the scar on my lower leg as an unsightly reminder of my diagnosis, I prefer to look at it as my victory.  My willingness to Stand Up to Cancer.  I'm so excited to say share that MasterCard is making it even easier for me {and you!} to Stand Up to Cancer too!

Every time I dine out and spend more than $10 until September 28th, MasterCard will donate that amount to Stand Up to Cancer – up to $4,000,000!  Amazing, right!?  It feels so wonderful that I can give back to the community that supported me so much 4 years ago by simply using my MasterCard like I would be doing anyways!

By standing up to cancer and joining MasterCard in this wonderful initiative, I'm hoping that one day anyone who gets the cancer diagnosis will be able to end their story with my favorite four words.

I am a Survivor!

How have you been effected by Cancer?
