Buy One – Give One: The Ruby Cup Campaign

I was sent a Ruby Cup in exchange for posting about my experience with this menstrual cup.  All thoughts are my own!

It's been awhile since we've tackled the subject of menstrual cups, so let's dive right on in, shall we!?

I've already shared with you the 7 Ways a Menstrual Cup Changed My Life.  I even wrote a rather long post answering all your questions about Everything You Wanted to Know {and Some Things You Didn't} About Menstrual Cups.  Today, I'm sharing with you a company with a heart that I just can't wait to share!

The Ruby Cup was a cup that I knew nothing about until just a few months ago.  Now I can't wait to tell you about them now!

The Ruby Cup Menstrual Cup performs just as well as the other 3 cups that I have in my cup stash {really!}.  I would most closely compare it to a Diva Cup {comparison in terms of size, elasticity, and general use} as the Diva Cup is one of the most widely known cups.  I took a few pictures of the Ruby Cup before I had used it to show sizes.

The stem is a tad bit longer on the Ruby Cup, but it's actually softer.  I didn't have to trim this stem as I did with my Diva because it's more rounded and smooth.  The cup, as a whole, feels a bit smoother as well and really does pop into place a bit better also.

Like I said, this menstrual cup performs just as well as my others – but there's a reason that it really stands out in my mind and recommendation.

Buy One – Give One

The Ruby Cup company promises that for every Ruby Cup that is sold, one is given to a schoolgirl in Kenya.  And believe me, when you start reading some of the letters from the girls that Ruby Cup has worked with, you'll be inspired as well.

Did You Know?

  • Girls living in poverty can't afford menstrual hygiene products. Scared of leaking in public, they stay home from school during their period. This amounts to 20% of their school-time.
  • Ruby Cup is a healthy, high quality and sustainable menstrual hygiene product made of 100% top Medical Grade Silicone and can be re-used for up to 10 years.
  • On average, a woman uses 11,000 tampons or pads in her lifetime.
  • With one Ruby Cup, she can go from primary school, through secondary school and finish college without having to worry about her period again. That is bloody amazing. Thank you for your support.

You may hear on the news or through internet stories about parents re-using disposable diapers because they can't afford them.  The Ruby Cup promise got me thinking about menstruation, not only in other countries, but in our country as well.  I'm sure things like this happen in the US and we aren't aware.  What a wonderful gift we can give women in our country and abroad, by letting them in on the knowledge of menstrual cups!

The Ruby Cup is based out of Denmark and is sold with a 27.95 Euro price, which right now translates to about $36 USD OR you can purchase the Sister Pack {love this idea of sharing the menstrual cup love} for around $60 USD, with Free Shipping on their website!

And remember – when you're purchasing a Ruby Cup – you're giving a schoolgirl in Kenya a chance at empowerment over her period!

How did you first learn of Menstrual Cups?

  1. I just received a Ruby Cup in the mail yesterday, I love it! I just love the Ruby Cup’s ethics! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Fascinating. I’m actually just now getting around to making a menstrual cup purchase (got my first AF last month postpartum.) I think you just sold me on the Ruby Cup. Thank you!

  3. I fist realized it was actually a thing on Youtube, then later I saw Ruby cup's ads on twitter. That's when I learnt that it has more advantages than I first thought, and it was the buy one give one idea who won me over :D
