From the moment that we saw the first Doc McStuffins episode, Sophia and I have been Doc fans. I sang those songs constantly – in my head and out loud – for the first few weeks. They are just so darn catchy! If you haven't sang them in your head, well, then I bet you've never watched the show.
And if you haven't, you're missing a super cute show.
2012's #1 cable TV series in Kids 2-5, "Doc McStuffins" tells the story of a nurturing six-year-old girl who heals stuffed animals and broken toys out of her backyard playhouse clinic. Assisting Doc at the clinic are her trusty team of lovable stuffed animals including: Stuffy, an overly proud dragon; Lambie, her cuddly best friend lamb; Hallie, a jolly and caring hippo nurse; and Chilly, a snowman who spends a lot of time getting check-ups at the clinic. Whether it's a case of loose stitching, low batteries or a blow-up toy who has sprung a leak, Doc and her pals are always there to lend a helping hand, while imparting to young viewers the importance of taking care of oneself and others.
I feel really great about letting Sophia watch Doc McStuffins for the social value. She has been introduced to so many great social situations and I know the show has made doctor visits go a little easier over the past year.
She already had a Doc-themed present for her birthday, complete with a Doc McStuffins puzzle, Doctor Kit, and I was able to put the Time For Your Checkup DVD in as well because it arrived a day before her birthday!
Time For Your Checkup includes 5 episodes, along with a Growth Chart. One of the five is Sophia's new favorite as she's really digging dinosaurs lately – Bronty and Bronto Boo Boos and Brontosaurus Breath!
Sophie goes in and out with favorite shows. For awhile it'll be Mickey constantly, there have been plenty of times that Doc is all she wants to see, and sometimes it's Henry Hugglemonster. But she always comes back to Doc – and I'm hoping it sticks with her right through Med School!
