Sophia is obsessed loves the color blue. I mean, everything the child picks out is blue. If I let her pick out her clothes for the day {and she usually does}, she always picks something blue. She won a prize at our county fair the other day, she picked a blue Scooby Doo. She got a new pet fish a few weeks ago, she picked a blue beta fish and named her… Blue Fish. Everything is blue.
That's why when she told me what she wanted to be for Halloween a few weeks ago, I wasn't a bit surprised… a blue pumpkin. I wasn't surprised, but I was a little hesitant – how were we going to pull off a blue pumpkin costume? I started dreaming up homemade ideas, searching for pumpkin costume patterns and had even decided to have Moreaya be a little painter, with a blue paintbrush {because that's totally a thing a little sister would do – paint your pumpkin blue}!
But then, a few days later, Sophia came to me and said "I changed my mind. I want to be a Blue Princess." {I'm pretty sure the change of mind came from the fact that when I told her we would have to add stuffing to her belly to make her a big pumpkin, she thought I meant I was going to actually put stuffing in her belly…} I will admit that I was a little bummed – the blue pumpkin idea was really original, but then I started getting excited for all the Princess, girly stuff! She's never really been big into the Princess idea, so I was excited to really build it up and make it special for her!
And boy, have we!
We've been talking a lot about the Disney Princesses – I'm trying to get her to understand that the Blue Princess's name is Cinderella, but she seems to prefer Blue Princess.
We even downloaded a special app for her – the Disney Princess Royal Ball app.
In the app she can:
- Dress herself up as a Princess
- Design her own Carriage
- Even attend a Royal Ball and DANCE {you twirl/spin your iPhone around to simulate dancing!}
While you're shopping at Walmart, you can search for trigger points, QR codes, to unlock even more in the app – like special Dresses and more interactive games.
Along with the fun, new app – we decided to throw a Halloween/Disney Princess Party! {I told you I was excited to do this fun, Princess theme!}. We're inviting over cousins and friends to come in their costumes and party like Princesses… and Princes! We headed to Walmart a couple of days ago to get all of the necessary decorations, the Blue Princess' Ball Gown, and the Cinderella BluRay Diamond Edition! After all, Sophia really needed to learn all about this Blue Princess.
Sophia was so excited to go Princess dress shopping. We checked out the Halloween section first. There weren't very many Toddler Costumes and the Disney Princess Halloween section was a bit scarce. We found a special Disney Princess section near the Toy Department, which is where we ended up getting all of her ensemble – the Cinderella Dress, Shoes, Crown, Earrings & Necklace, and even a purse!
The dresses from each section were the same size {Small, 4-6}, which is a little too big for Sophia, but I think we can take it in a bit. The Cinderella dress on the left {the one from the Toy section} seemed to be a bit more "glitzy" than the Halloween costume, so we chose it.
One thing that we've tried to do for both of the girls is collect the timeless, Disney classics. I have a few VHS from when I was younger and we're slowly converting the collection all to DVDs. Although we don't have a BluRay player {yet}, I chose to get the Cinderella, BluRay Diamond Edition. It has special content – plus, a regular DVD in the package as well. I was surprised to learn that it's one of the Top 10 Animated Films of all time – and was just released from the Disney Vault after 7 years!
I'm sure we'll be watching the movie a few times before our Party. Sophia has been asking everyday 'if today is the day her friends will come to her Blue Princess Party!?' She is so excited to wear her costume and share this fun time!
The date for our Halloween/Disney Princess Party is set for Sunday, October 28th and I'll be sharing pictures of the Party and the Blue Princess in a couple of weeks, but If you want a sneak peek of the Blue Princess in her dress, as well as see our entire Cinderella-inspired Shopping Trip, click over and check out my Google+ Story.
If you have little Princesses in your home, you'll want to stay in the know about all the Royal Happenings too! Check out Disney on Twitter, Cinderella and all the Disney Princesses on Facebook, and the Social Channel. You can also find a ton of adorable Disney Princess merchandise at Walmart – so if your little one is a fan, you'll want to check it out too!

My little princess’ favorite color is blue too. She dresses herself all the time and while she’s always girly, she’s also always blue. She has the Cinderella costume but picked out the Snow White costume for her princess party next week. Your little princess is so pretty in her blue ball gown!

What a fun shopping trip! My daughter loves the Disney princesses and I’m surprised she’s not going as one this year. She decided to be a bunny. I’m sure she’d love to see this movie and it’s on her wish list.
