I've been working on putting more effort into Sophia's "School Time" everyday.  It's getting a bit easier now that Moreaya is on a good schedule and Sophia love love loves doing crafts, practicing her alphabet, drawing, and doing crafts {did I mention that a couple times?  Well, that's how much she enjoys it!}.

I've gotten a lot of my ideas for toddler crafts from Pinterest, which are all pretty much DIY.  I love Pinterest, but it does take some time to gather up all the supplies and by gather, I mean go buy them at the store because most I don't have on hand, and do it all myself.  That's why when I came across Green Kid Crafts, I totally wanted to try them out!

Sophia received her first box in the mail and this box's theme was "Feathered Friends".  I was so impressed by the minimal packaging, quality of the materials, and the fact that everything was super easy to understand.

There were 3 crafts in our box, so I laid them all out and let Sophia choose what she wanted to do first.  ALL of the materials {other than something like glue, markers, or scissors} that you'll need for the craft are included in the package!  So, you don't have to go out and buy a whole pack of pipe cleaners, if you only need a few.  I loved this!

She chose to do the hand puppets – a Mexican Spotted Owl and a Whooping Crane.  Keep in mind that the kits are designed for children from 3-8, so Sophia is a little young, but she still thoroughly enjoyed the activities.  I just did some minor adjusting – I cut out the items, but she still was able to glue, color, tape – etc.  While I cut out parts of the project, I let her experiment with her safety scissors on a piece of construction paper so she didn't feel left out.

She loved putting the spots and eyes on the owl.  Once she finished, this poor owl was put through the ringer – she took him everywhere!

We also did the Spotting Scope on the same day because she had so much fun doing the Hand Puppets.  The Spotting Scope was very easy for her to do, almost on her own.  She colored the tube, put the orange felt on the ends, and I rolled up her green "telescope" and strung the string.  We then went on a expedition to look for Feather Friends in our backyard!

We both absolutely loved the Green Kid Craft box.  Even though it is aimed at older children, there are plenty of ways to manipulate the activities to be appropriate for Toddler Crafts.  I love that all of the materials are there together and most are being re-used or made from recyclable materials!

Buy It:  You can purchase a Monthly Subscription to Green Kid Crafts on their website for $19.50.  Each kit contains three crafts and will supply your child with tons of fun creating and then interacting with their craft and nature!  They also offer an Annual Subscription, as well as Specialty Kits and Party Pleasers!
