I was raised in an Air Force family, moving about every 2 years. Blessed to have a family who loves the Lord and encourages and inspires me.  For almost 30 years, I’ve been married to a wonderful, retired Army helicopter pilot, with a handsome son, who is in college, 2 beautiful daughters, and expecting our first grandbaby, the other daughter is engaged to an amazing guy.
I am a dental hygienist, who enjoys working with my patients.  And I have been doing the Personalized Sketches since 1985.  I love, love, love drawing, seeing what others are interested in having drawn and meeting those through this art.  Besides drawing and calligraphy, I enjoy sewing, crafting, cooking, baking, traveling, quilting, smocking…trying new things.
About the art that I do… each one is created by using the name of a person throughout the entire image. ANY image can be drawn, using ANY name. I truly love to hear the stories of: who the art was drawn for~a loved one, dear friend, military, civilian, young and old; what occasion the art is given or received~births, celebrating a wedding, graduation, promotion, retirement, commemorating life; where the art eventually makes its home~they have been all over the world; why a particular image was chosen~a career, hobby, collection, military service, interest, passion, something near and dear to the recipients’ hearts.

At first glance, you’ll see a beautiful picture, but take a deeper look.  What sets Personalized Sketches apart from other art is the way Maria draws the subject… with one particular word or phrase!  This is amazing and mind-boggling to me, all at the same time!
