Lately Sophia has really become interested in my iPhone. I have a few story apps on it for her and she loves to listen to them, especially in the car. When I had the chance to review a few more from Oceanhouse Media, I jumped at the chance.
Elmer and Rose
is a cute little story app about elephants and being unique and is the 3rd in the Elmer the Patchwork Elephant series! As Elmer and Wilbur help Rose to return back to their herd, they get a lesson in what it’s really like being unique and fitting in. This is a cute story that would appeal to a little bit older audience than Sophia, I think. Although, she did enjoy looking at the different colored elephants and repeating the names “Elmer” and “Wilbur”!

he second app is her favorite right now… The Berenstain Bears, Trim the Tree. I was intrigued by this app as soon as I read about it because it’s marketed as a “Lift the Flap” book app. Sophia loves these type of real books, so I definitely wanted to see how an app could be “lift the flap”. We mainly use the “Auto Play” versions of the apps and it’s a little hard for her to be able to have time to touch where the “flap” is, but I know with a little time she’ll see them more easily. It’s such a fun, interactive experience and she loves the Christmas theme!
Lastly, I had the chance to let Sophia enjoy the new Dr. Seuss Band app. I just love this app! It’s so fun and interactive for Soph and it keeps her entertained. She’s just really learning that when she touches the phone, things happen, so this is a great app for her to understand the cause and effect of using the touchscreen. This is a great app for older children as well, as it’s kind of comparable to the Guitar Hero type games so it helps your child follow directions. Sophia just likes pushing the different buttons and making tunes of her own!
