SpilStop {giveaway} – 3 Winners & Discount Code!

**EDIT**

I just received an awesome email from the makers of SpilStop!  He informed me that they are currently working on the next SpilStop product that will fit even more brands that are on the market!

****

I have a fun, new product to share with you all today!  If you have children, especially toddlers who are starting to transition from sippy cups to regular cups or straw cups… this one is for you!

I was contacted by SpilStop and was immediately intrigued.  How can you not be if something says it will stop spills!?  Sophia has recently really taken an interest in drinking out of straws.  When we go out to eat, she prefers mine and Rob’s water to anything in her sippy cup, simply because she gets to drink out of a straw!  So, I knew she was perfect to test out the SpilStop lids!

The lids will fit on a variety of cups, bottles, and packaged drinks.  You can view a complete list here.  This is the only drawback of these lids, as they of course won’t fit on everything, but once you learn what they do fit on, you can buy those specific products.  They work with any size straw and the plastic in the middle kind of grips the straw to keep the liquid from pouring out.  I can’t tell you enough how great this product truly is!  It’s so simple and genius… it’s one of those “Why didn’t I think of that” products!

Another great thing about SpilStop?  The price point.  A lot of times, especially with a new product, no matter how simple the idea, the price can be a bit high until it catches on.  These tops are a steal at only $5.99 for 3!  They are dishwasher safe, convenient design and size {easy to stow in the diaper bag}, and work great for older kids too… especially when you’re in the car and just want a little more peace of mind!

They truly do reduce spills.  I tilted the bottle of juice that Sophia had and we had nothing come out.  Now, it did come out of the straw, but that has nothing to do with the SpilStop lid.  They aren’t spill-proof, but a great top to help teach your toddler to drink out of a straw!

Buy It:  As I stated above, you can purchase a 3 pack of SpilStop lids for only $5.99 on their website.  They come in 3 different Color Packs: Dark, Pastel, and Bright Colors.  Be sure to follow this great, up and coming product and company on their new Facebook Page!

As if that’s not a great enough deal, by using code “SEBG15″ you can save 15% off your purchases at SpilStop!

Win It:  THREE lucky So Easy Being Green readers are going to win a 3 pack of SpilStop lids!!!

MFC Sponsor Spotlight: ittybittybums

Today is the last Sponsor Spotlight for a Merry Fluffy Christmas!  But don’t be sad because that only means that… Merry Fluffy Christmas starts tomorrow {or tonight, at midnight, if you’re a Night Owl}!!!

For our last day, you get a peek at another diaper featured in this great Prize Package!  For this review, I was sent an AI2 from ittybittybums!  I had a read a few reviews on these diapers and was excited to get the chance to try one out myself.

First, how cute is that cover!?  I just love the color combos of the brown, yellow, and orange.  Sophia loves the “duckies”!  As it’s an AI2, there are 2 parts to the diaper: the cute cover, lined with an orange OBV and the insert which is similar to a small prefold type insert.  I really like this insert as it folds as a trifold and I can customize where I put the most absorbency.

I was quite surprised at just how trim this One-Size diaper fit on Sophia and how long she was able to wear it with just the one ittybittybums insert!  She wore it about 2 1/2 hours, which is quite awhile for my heavy wetter!  I will say that the diaper fits her smaller than some of her other diapers, which makes me wonder if she grows very much if it will fit for her entire diaper lifetime, but I love it now because it means it fits trimmer, which I’ve been all about lately!

Not only does Stefanie make cute diapers… she’s also making cloth wipes, wetbags, and just began to make Trainers!  You can check them out on her Facebook page and her Ready-to-Ship items on the ittybittybums Etsy page!

Buy It:  You can purchase a One-Size AI2 ittybittybums diaper for $17.00.

Win It:  An ittybittybums AIO OR AI2 {Winner’s Choice} in a Solid Color, will be included in the  Merry Fluffy Christmas Prize Package for one lucky So Easy Being Green reader!

The Merry Fluffy Christmas Event goes live at 12:01 am EST on December 1, 2011!

MFC Sponsor Spotlight: MilkMadeMomma

So, as I said in today’s earlier post, one thing you definitely have to do if you’re using Wool in cloth diapering is lanolize the wool.  When I first heard about the process I thought “Not another thing for me to learn {and possibly mess up}!”.  You might be thinking this too, but I’m so excited to share with you how easy it truly is to take care of wool and lanolize it… with a great product from MilkMadeMomma called, WoollyMamma Lanolin!

We mainly use our wool covers at night on Sophia, so that means I only need to wash and lanolize them about once every 2-3 weeks… talk about low maintenance!  Even when I do need to wash and lanolize, it’s still super easy.  Let’s go over the process and then I’ll share a little more about this great product with you.

First you need to wash your wool items with a mild wool wash.  I use a liquid wool wash, but there are lots of options out there including Wool Bars.  Once you’ve washed your woolies by the directions on your wash, you ring out the water and you’re ready to lanolize.  {There are some who say you can wash and lanolize in one step.  I’ve actually not tried this simply because my routine works and it doesn’t take that much time, so why fix something that’s not broken, right?!}  Here’s where the WoollyMamma Lanolin comes in!  I simply take about a tsp of the lanolin and add it to a small bowl of hot water {that was in the microwave for about 1 min.}.  The hot water will melt the lanolin into a slick liquid as you stir.

Once it’s mixed with the hot water, simply add it to your sink or larger bowl where you plan to lanolize your wool items.  Then, add your soakers!  You can leave your wool in the mixture for as little as 15-20 minutes or even overnight.  I’ve actually done both and don’t really see a difference in the woolies, so I suggest a 30 minute soak.  Then, ring them out and hang or lay flat to dry!  It does take our soakers about a whole day and night to dry, so be prepared for that.  You might could put them in your dryer with NO HEAT, but I’m scared too!

Using the WoollyMamma Lanolin to lanolize our woolies is super easy and fast and it has worked great when I’ve used it!  I’m also excited to have it on hand when Moreaya gets here in January, as lanolin is great breastfeeding tool and great on baby’s skin, if it’s a bit dry!

Buy It:  You can purchase a 1.5 oz Jar of WoollyMamma Lanolin from MilkMadeMomma’s Etsy Shop for a steal at only $4.00!  This jar will last you a very long time!  While you’re browsing, be sure to check out all of Becca’s other fabulous products!

Win It:  One 1.5oz Jar of WoollyMamma Lanolin will be included in the  Merry Fluffy Christmas Prize Package for one lucky So Easy Being Green reader, so you can be ready to use your new Wool!

The Merry Fluffy Christmas Event goes live at 12:01 am EST on December 1, 2011!

MFC Sponsor Spotlight: Forty41 Wool

If you’ve been cloth diapering for anytime at all, I’m sure you’ve came across the subject of using Wool with your fluff.  If you haven’t yet, I’m so excited to share this great new world with you!

I first discovered wool back in March, when I held a blog event, “Out Like a Lamb“.  To say that I was scared to jump into using wool is an understatement.  I was worried about the care and washing of it and the price tags, mostly!  I knew you had to wash separately and lanolize {which just sounds scary} and wool often carries with it a hefty price tag.  I wasn’t sure that I wanted to invest more $$ into something I was so iffy about.

If you’re new to wool, or even if you’re not, I definitely recommend checking out WAHM and Etsy Shops to find some great wool soakers and longies.  Often they are a bit less expensive, more green due to the fact that alot of their products are made out of re-purposed sweaters, and are a wealth of information!  If you’re lucky enough, like I was, to run across Melissa and her creations at Forty41.com, you’ll be amazed at what she can do with wool!

When I contacted Melissa about joining the Merry Fluffy Christmas Event, she jumped at the chance.  I think she’s like me and just loves sharing the use of wool with cloth diapering parents… it truly was a lifesaver for us when it came to using cloth on Sophia overnight!  Not only can you find great wool soakers and longies at great prices at the Forty41 Etsy Shop, you can also find some of the cutest custom work I’ve ever seen on wool!  {And the Winner of this Prize Package is going to win a CUSTOM themselves!}

Sophia received a cute, Dark and Light Pink striped soaker for Review.  This soaker was made custom to Sophia’s measurements and fits her perfectly.  It’s a lambswool material, so it’s thicker than a light material like cashmere, but I still find it to be a bit lighter than some of our other wool.  Although it’s thinner/lighter, it does it’s job perfectly and holds all of the wetness inside the diaper, not outside on the wool!

We’ve been using this soaker for months now and it’s one of my favorites in our Wool Stash.  I can put it on Sophia every night, over a fitted, for about 2-3 weeks before it needs to be washed and lanolized.  It’s truly one of my bulletproofs and I’ve taken it on a couple of overnight stays away from home because I never worry about it leaking.  I definitely need to add another Forty41 to our stash {and recommend you have at least 1 in yours too}!

Buy It:  You can purchase Wool Soakers and other fabulous Wool and non-Wool items at Forty41′s Etsy Shop.  Prices vary, depending on material, appliques, and types.  Soakers range from about $12-$20.

Win It:  One Forty41 CUSTOM Wool Soaker {WOW!} will be included in the  Merry Fluffy Christmas Prize Package for one lucky So Easy Being Green reader!

The Merry Fluffy Christmas Event goes live at 12:01 am EST on December 1, 2011!

Proud Mama.

Yep, I’m having a Proud Mama moment.  I just have to share this cute video with you all.  Sophia was just singing away, so I turned on the WebCam and captured this priceless video.

Just in case you have a hard time deciphering:  First she sings “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, then “dances” to her Daddy’s instructions {this is one of her favorite things to do}, then she counts to 13… and yes, she asks for a TREAT!

Then, she blew us away with how many ABC’s she knew!  This was the first time she had said them for us… well, more than just “ABCD”.

So, to say I’m a Proud Mama is a bit of an understatement.

MFC Sponsor Spotlight: Earthy Crunchy Mama

Earthy Crunchy Mama is no stranger to So Easy Being Green OR cloth diapers!  Jenn, the fabulous MAMA behind one of my favorite online stores, is an absolute joy to work with and I was delighted that she wanted to come on board with SEBG during Merry Fluffy Christmas!

Jenn and her family have a lot going on right now… not only are they gearing up for the Holidays, they’ve also just announced that they’re opening a Brick & Mortar store!  Unfortunately, it’s 14 hours away from me, in Vermont, but I’m excited for them nonetheless!  This is a great undertaking and I’m convinced they are able to do this because of they’re giving spirit, outstanding customer service, and desire to help others become green-er!

For the MFC Prize Package, I was sent a GroVia AIO.  I’ve used the shell and insert sets from GroVia before, but hadn’t had the chance to try out their AIO’s yet.  Actually, until very recently, I steered clear of AIOs.  Why?  Well, when I was still having some issues with my homemade CD detergent, my AIOs seemed harder to clean and got stinkier much faster.  Now that I’ve found the AIO love… seriously, how could you not love them?!  They are so trim compared to Pockets!

You’ve already had a bit of a sneak peek of Sophia in this diaper when she was showing off her Holiday BabyLegs.  Although this Cosmos color has been discontinued, I just love it… especially for my girls!  {Although, have you seen the new colors from GroVia?!  Love them too!}

I haven’t been disappointed in this AIO at all.  Let’s go over a few of my favorite features… GroVia snaps are unique and some of the strongest, I think.  They snap so easy and I love the fact that this AIO is side-snapping.  If you haven’t tried a side-snapping diaper, don’t knock it until you do.  It seems to give an even more trim fit and makes it very hard for your child to try to take his/her diaper off!

The diaper seems to fit a bit smaller than other OS diapers, as I have it completely un-snapped at the largest rise setting.  I’m excited to see how it will fit on Moreaya!  The inserts are unique also and the other favorite feature of this diaper for me.  They’re made of organic cotton, which means a bit of extra initial prepping, but it’s very soft and absorbent once you’re done!  The soaker is sewn in, making it an AIO, but it’s separated, which makes drying much faster than some other AIOs on the market.  This diaper also comes with a detachable extra soaker, which I always use on Sophia and have even added another hemp insert to make this diaper last a good 4 hours, or in the car when it seems wet diapers always happen!

Buy It:  You can purchase a GroVia AIO on the Earthy Crunch Mama website for $22.95.  The Cosmos AIO is on sale for only $17.00, as it’s been discontinued!

Win It:  One GroVia AIO be included in the Merry Fluffy Christmas Prize Package for one lucky So Easy Being Green reader, thanks to Earthy Crunchy Mama!

MFC Sponsor Spotlight: United By Fluff

This morning we’re spotlighting another great Cloth Accessory and Cloth Wipes maker, United By Fluff.  Don’t you just love that name!?  The winner of SEBG‘s Merry Fluffy Christmas Prize Package is going to have quite the fluffy wipes stash built up in just 1 win!

Jessie, the sweet lady behind United By Fluff, sent me 3 wipes to review.  Look at the cute spread of colors!

Her wipes measure 8″x8″, which is larger than any other wipes that we use.  They’re actually the perfect size to fold rectangular and fit in a disposable wipe box.  I think the size of cloth wipes is a complete opinion thing and I normally do tend to reach for my smaller wipes, but these are really nice when you have an extra big mess.  Actually, these have been sent to the kitchen and I use them to clean Sophia up after meals and snack times!  They’re super soft and they make cleaning a very rebellious little girl a bit easier!

These wipes are made with one side being a print flannel material and the other side a minky!  This is my first experience with minky wipes and I really like them alot.  I was worried that they wouldn’t clean as well, but they do and they’re ultra soft on your baby’s skin.

I saw on the United By Fluff Facebook page that she has UnPaper Towels in the works… I’m excited to see those and get a bigger selection for our whole family to go paper-less in the kitchen!

Buy It:  You can purchase United By Fluff cloth wipes on her Hyena Cart and on their Facebook Page.  A pack of 6 wipes retails for $15.00.

Win It:  One set of {6} Wipes will be included in the  Merry Fluffy Christmas Prize Package for one lucky So Easy Being Green reader!

12 Days of Holi-Daily Deals: Lullaby Organics Toddler Bathrobe {giveaway!}

Yesterday, I let ya’ll know about the great event that I’m a part of, thanks to the lovely Erin at Lullaby Organics.  Just a quick re-cap… everyday for 12 days, a different blogger {or two} will be sharing a Holiday Deal with you… a coupon code AND a giveaway!  This is such a fun event idea and a great way to learn about new, green products just in time for Christmas shopping!

First, let me share with you just a bit of info about Lullaby Organics.  This fabulous store is a one-stop shop for all of your green products, especially those to be used at bedtime!  And really, what better time to keep those chemicals away?!  They are stocked with products and brands that share their values: to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals, toxins and allergens, promote safe and healthy working conditions, and minimize environmental impact.  The online store came about after Erin decided to taker her family’s health into her own hands and use only the safest of materials and products!

Today, I am so excited to bring to you the Deal of the Day for Sunday, November 27th… “an EXTRA 20% off bath robes and ponchos {that are already 20% off this weekend} with code SUNDAYBATH“!

When I saw these cute Fair Trade Organic Cotton Hooded Toddler Bathrobe by Piccalilly, I knew that Sophia would just love it!  She always loves to rub on my robe when it’s hanging in the bathroom and when she gets out of the bathtub, she’s never ready to get straight into her diaper or clothes.   I was struggling with this because as it’s getting colder, I can’t let her run around without her clothes for more than just a few minutes after her bath.  This robe solved our problems!

It’s so super, snuggly soft and keeps her warm while we’re doing our lotion and hair drying routine!  The robe is made from GOTS certified organic cotton, using Fairtrade certified cotton, Pesticide and chemical free, and Screen printed by hand using low impact environmentally friendly dyes.  It features the cutest polka dots and little ears that make it even more adorable!

Buy It:  The Organic Bathrobe comes in 2 sizes, 2T and 4T and usually retails on the Lullaby Organics website for $48.00.  BUT… Remember that all Pajamas, Rompers and Bathrobes are 20% off all weekend long (11/25-28) and today’s DAILY DEAL is an EXTRA 20% off bath robes and ponchos with coupon code SUNDAYBATH {valid today only}!  With today’s DEAL OF THE DAY, you can purchase it for only $30.39!!!

Win It:  One super lucky So Easy Being Green reader is going to WIN their own Piccalilly Robe for their toddler!
