Three Happy Trees Wool Soaker Review – Cloth Diapering with Wool

3 Flares 3 Flares ×

So… do you want to know what the very first wool product was that I put on Sophia?  Want to know why I chose it to be the first!?  Well, lucky you!  You get to find out in today's post!

When I contacted Mandi from Three Happy Trees about my hesitations about using wool, I had no idea that I would stumble onto a kind lady with a wealth of knowledge of using the fabric.  She walked me through my journey step by step and made me feel as comfortable as possible with this new cloth diapering choice!  I came to her with all types of questions…

How do I measure for a wool soaker?  *  Can my daughter wear it alone or can I put PJ's over top?  *  How do I care for wool?   *  How many layers of doublers should I put on her?  *  What are compression issues?

She answered all my questions and then some and I'm happy to bring her answers to you!

First, you must check out the Three Happy Trees Etsy shop.  She has an assortment of wool shorties, in a variety of wool types, that you just have to see!  They are super cute.  Here's how mine arrived…

I told you… Super cute, right!?!  The best part?  She had already lanolized it for me!  How nice was that?  She knew that I was very nervous about using wool for the first time, so she took care of the first step for me to put me more at ease, along with instructions on how to wash and lanolize it later.

For today, I want to address a topic that Mandi advised me about when using wool… Compression issues.  She described compressions issues like this "When they're laying down like that in the same diaper for a long period of time, the pressure from her body will push some moisture through."  Makes sense, right?  This issue came about when I decided to put Sophie's PJ's over the THT Wool Soaker.  Her PJ bottoms were damp, but not soaked.  After having this happen a couple of times, I adjusted the temperature in her room and just left her PJ bottoms off during the night.  There were absolutely no issues of dampness anymore (on sheets, anything).

Cloth Diaper Wool Soaker

My THT soaker has a doubler sewn into the wet zone for extra protection.  I love the brown color and the fit of the shorties is just too adorable!

When you are measuring for a wool item, always measure with a fitted diaper on… seems like common sense, but it's an important fact.  I didn't do that (duh!) and there is one fitted in my stash (Bummis Bamboozle) that's a bit thicker than the rest and makes the soaker gap a bit.

Why I Love my Three Happy Trees Soaker:  Customer Service will always rank high in my list of "Why I Love's…"  When you treat your customers with respect and kindness, I believe you will always succeed ahead of the rest.  Mandi is a delight and I have no doubt that she puts love into every soaker she makes.  You can tell by looking at them!  Sophia's THT soaker is soft, well made, and keeps her sheets dry!
