Doodle Dypes Fitted Cloth Diaper

Just a few months ago, I shunned fitted diapers.  I just didn't understand them at all

*  Why would you want to use such a cute diaper that you just have to cover up?  *  Why do you want all that bulk on your baby?  *  Why would you want the whole diaper to be wet?  *  Why not just use PUL like normal people?!?! (ha!)  *

Obviously if I was going to try Wool, I had to give Fitted's the benefit of the doubt.  I had to put something under the beloved wool, so I started researching.  I came across Doodle Dypes on Facebook.  I couldn't deny the cuteness her diapers.  They looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Before, I get all gushy with how cute this diaper makes Sophia's bum look… let's get back to that whole "Why not just use PUL like normal people?!?!" thought.  I came across a "blogger-view" (blog interview) with Vilate from Nifty Nappy on the Eebie Baby blog.  She gave this colorful illustration of why wool is one of the best choices for your cloth diapered babe…
"PUL is supposed to be more breathable than the plastic pants that have been used as diaper covers. I guess maybe it might be, but I have PUL fabric at my house… and I have tried to breath through it. -Really I did! And….? Nope… I couldn’t breath though it. So in my mind, if I can’t breath through it then how much air is really being circulated? Well not as much as I would like. Wool is very breathable though. Wool is the perfect fabric. It allows the body to be warm when the weather is cool, and cools the body through evaporative cooling when it is hot. So even if you live in Florida or Arizona you can use wool on your baby and they will feel cool and comfortable."  Source

Be prepared, as during this event I will be quoting Vilate… well, alot.  She seems to be at the forefront of this wool movement, well, in my circle anyways and I love her "no nonsense, Dr. Phil (eck.)" style of straight talk.
So, that explains a huge reason of why so many people choose fitteds and more breathable fabrics, such as wool rather than the PUL pockets.

Ok, back to this cutie… and I'm talking about the diaper, not the girl (for once)!

Doodle Dypes fitted diapers are considered a One-Size.  There are a row of snaps inside the diaper, so that you can fold the front down and snap, making the rise shorter.  I've used the diaper both ways on Sophia and truthfully, it fits her fine either way.
The snap-in soaker that comes with the diaper is a bit unique in that it is split, to allow for faster drying.  The soaker is made up of OBF (organic bamboo fleece) and topped with cotton velour as OBF tends to stain badly.  The diaper itself has an inner liner of micro chamois (super soft!) and the outer is cotton waffle knit.

Why I love Doodle Dypes:  First of all, I love supporting WAHMs and this lady was a total gem to work with.  She made my first fitted experience a breeze!  One of my main loves of this diaper (other than the cutest print ever!) is the fact that the whole diaper doesn't get soaking wet.  The outer layer is a waffle knit which does get damp, yes, but it's not drenched.  I love this for icky factors (when I'm taking the diaper off of her), as well as, for the fact that I can let Soph go around in this diaper without a cover and not worry about everything that she comes into contact with, getting wet.

Buy It:  Sure, you can buy one of these diapers… if you're dedicated!  Nah… Sandy will work hard to get what you want, but I have read that you have to be a bit of a stalker when her Hyena Cart stockings go live!  (Side note: Although this review is for a Doodle Dypes fitted… I've only heard fabulous reviews of her AI2's, if that's your thing!)

Win It:  I hope you consider yourself lucky because… one lucky So Easy Being Green reader will have the chance to win their very own Doodle Dypes custom diaper!  You can choose the print AND style…  Fitted or AI2!
